Surely you’ve been a member on her long enough now to know that if you upset one of the schoolboy clique here you’ll upset them all

Very true raymundo, I should have known better :frowning: … I suspect some of the schoolboys on here are the same ignorant, thick knobs I come across on the roads on a daily basis

Loving your charm offensive mate, do you just come on here to make friends.
A bit ott to resort to personal attacks just because the thread did not go as you planned…thick ignorant knobs?.. :unamused:
Lighten up ffs, you have just lost all credibility, as well as made a prick of yourself. :unamused: .

Sorry - I only gave sensible comments to make.

A missing mandatory mirror is an immediate PG9 and a £50 fixed penalty if you get caught. Your boss has done exactly the right thing - take the vehicle off the road and fix it.

May I enquire how the mirror got broken.

Im going to go out on a limb and say I suspect you’re one of the same arrogant pricks with chips on their shoulders and massive attitude problems that most people have the misfortune to come across on a daily basis.

I would have gone to Boots and buy a make up mirror, stick it on with some Sellotape and off you go .
Then put BG or RO number plates on .
Failing that, pick a random pedestrian and ask them to sit in the passenger seat all day holding on to a bathroom mirror from B & Q .

Hi, Just a quick question.
I broke a nearside mirror today and continued my days work relying on the ‘blind spot’ convex mirror situated below the broken mirror. The blind spot mirror covers the same field of view as the main mirror (and more) but my boss tells me it is illegal to drive until the main mirror is replaced… is he right?
Regards

That’s like Captain Kirk saying “I think it’s time to return to base for routine maintenance, Scotty”, and Scotty replying with annoyance “but can’t we just give it all she’s got, Captain?”.

Just goes to show there’s no pleasing some people!

It’s a forum captain, but not as we know it !!

Still more pheromones, is it rag week for you two?

I asked a simple, straightforward question, please may I have a similar reply from knowledgeable folk rather than irrelevant comments?

You ask for help yet after one reply this is your attitude?

Happened with another poster yesterday. Was misinformed, question didn’t make sense and when it was answered and reasoning explained behind answer they copped a strop and started whinging it was why they didn’t use the forum anymore.
Still struggling to understand that type of mentality myself.

Page 2 and nobody has thought of the children? You’re losing form!

Also know one has assumed he is agency causing all this damage. That and his precious attitude and social skills.

Probably the most safety critical item after the brakes and steering so in my opinion no it should be repaired there and then and should not wait to get back to base at the end of the shift.

Carefully driving to a place of repair, provided it is only a short distance, is the absolute limit. I would probably be happier to go a bit further with an o/s mirror where you have the possibility of looking over your shoulder.

If you crushed a cyclist and it was found you had no mirror you would be looking at a load of extra jail time (rightly).

You should have contacted your boss immediately so at least they have the option to send a fitter out in a van for what is a five minute job to change a mirror.

Wot is on the Lorry has to work.
You could remove the Mirror completly from Lorry and say "Special Edition " and you are fine,as long as you have another Mirror to see anything.
Looks different if you kill someone

Think about it if it was your own truck or car would you go and get it fixed or just leave it.Would take a guess at get it fixed because its your own bit of a daft question really so dont get stroppy.

I agree with Mr Snowmans comment, don’t get up-rightouse out of first comment. If you had hit something on you N/side…then all down to you…if it was a cyclist. and was fatal…forget 2 years Cokey look at 8…I say this with respect… Boss will only worry about his O licence… He’d leave you high and dry

Since I was the one who made him ■■■■ his knickers :unamused: , I’ll just explain where I was coming from.
If he had came on and said …
‘I broke my mirror today, had to rely on a secondary convex, I do not think it is entirely suitable but the guvnor insists I take the motor out again tomorrow with broken mirror, is this legal’’

But no, the boss was responsible enough to point out it was more than likely illegal.
The fact that matey disputed or doubted what his boss said, implied imo that he was willing to take it out again, and wanted some reassurance off here that it would have been ok. :unamused:
So as I said ‘‘Why are you bothered’’ ie…The boss wants things done properly, that should have sufficed, end of.
So then he decides to come out with a load of disproportinate abuse eventually, only because he did not hear what he wanted to hear. :unamused:

Maybe I should have said ‘‘Crack on mate, take no notice and go for it, if you knock a pedestrian the law are guaranteed to not mention your unsuitable mirror it is entirely safe and legal’’
I’ll think on next time he asks a question.
