Navman panoramic sat nav

Hello all,
I bought a 2nd hand navman panoramic sat nav which had the truck settings on it. While away in France last week the screen froze and no sattelite signal was being recieved. The only way I could get it working again was to do a factory reset but this has stopped the truck settings from working. I contacted navman and the woman on the phone said that my GPS had been running on the FREE month trial version and should have stopped working ages ago. She now says that I have to pay £70 to re-install my truck settings and also download the latest maps. Has anybody else had this problem and how can I get round it?? Any ideas?

Hi lads,

£70 quid for a truck sat nav! Plus the £70 you pay for the actual NAV in Halfords, come on lads this is not expensive. When you price the equivalent out there it’s a cheap little gadget.

I’ve been running one for almost two yrs now and yes I had the hiccups but found out how to eliminate them. Mine once only displayed a message saying “your Navman does not have enough memory”
It wouldn’t do anything and I was at the stage of throwing it out the window considering I have a 4G sd card installed of which only 5% was being used. I also had the freezing probs and thought its a pity as this is a useful little tool.

What I discovered over a year ago was if I connect the device to my laptop whenever I get a wifi spot (parked up) it will update and transfer data to the sd card.

What was happening with mine and I’m sure with others was, the device is storing data to its internal memory instead of the sd card, so after a while when the memory gets near full the device will freeze and after that I presume display the message your device does not have enough memory.

Since doing this I’ve had no probs, (fingers crossed)

If this device had a better processor I’d safely say it could be the best device on the market, I have tried others: snooper, garmin. This blows them out of the water. It’s easier to understand, every thing is straight forward.

But the real bonus is once you enter your destination and go you can add waypoints along the route, what’s so special about that I hear ya say.

On the Navman after you select add waypoint, you have different options, eg: city, point of interest, ECT but there’s also the option to explore, when you select it, it brings up the map with your current location, all you have to do now is zoom out and select what way you’d like to travel, unlike the others if seen where they let you select a road or city this will actually bring you where you choose on the map (exact location) you can do this as many times as you like.

In other words if you were going south on the M1 and decided you wanted to go up the slip at jct 18 go round the R/About a couple of times and re-enter the M/way you can do it.

Why would you do this I hear you ask? Well if you were in the right frame of mind you wouldn’t, but lets assume you were going to Madrid and you enter your destination address whilst parked in Rugby, most truck sat nav’s will have a set route, or maybe a couple of options, with this little baby you can make it go the exact way you want to go.

I’ve had a look at numerous sat nav’s and haven’t seen any with this option so if any of you lads have, it’d be great to know the make and model.
