Had the trip from hell to London on National express.Profits first,as in First group plc,Passengers last.Drivers told never to wait for people arriving later than 10 minutes berfore the departure time.Had an angry passenger chase our bus from Chippenham to Swindon, slanging match at bus station,as they missed the bus and followed us in their car, through bus gates, and red lights.Happened at Dover to London, passenger missed bus, followed in the car,and banging on bus doors to get on.Refused entry on all occasions.
nutter’s and all this happened on your bus? lol
So what’s the problem ? If your late for a train or plane it goes without you. Why’s a coach any differant.
If you want them to wait you need to hire some kind of limo, & be prepared to pay for it.
When I was on the taxi’s I chased NatEx coaches a few times. Sometimes the driver would let them on at the next stop, once they were refused but the guy was a complete ■■■■■ (The passenger that is) I in fact left him at Digbeth coach station because I had had enough of him.

as well they shouldnt, there could be people already on the coach that were making transfers to other buses further down the line. get there in good time and you wont have a problem, simple really?
Used to use the coach a lot from Glasgow to London in the 80’s visiting relatives. Used to go down with my aunt and uncle in the end we started getting the train instead because of the amount of hassle and trouble on the coach.
One time was a guy really drunk, was pretty harmless till he got up and mistook an asian lady for the toilet and peed all over her, that ended up with a detour to Carlisle police station.
Another time getting the overnight bus from London to Glasgow, the driver looked about 90, he had just driven down from Glasgow and another driver was meant to drive back up the road whilst he got some sleep. The other driver stank of booze heard them talking, he had been drinking all afternoon and thought he might be sober enough but he wasn’t, so the old guy had to drive back up the road. He was falling asleep the bus was all over the road, at a controflow at some roadworks he knocking the cones all over the place, we all had to get him to stop get some sleep.
Another journey this guy got on pretty drunk was friendly chatting to everyone, as soon as the bus started moving he started acting strange, all fidgity and ended up eventually sticking the head in the guy sat next to him, then started screaming at some young guys accusing them of calling him gay. The bus stoped at Charnock Richard, for the police to come, meanwhile he managed to get off the bus and punched someone in the service station because they didn’t have baked beans or something. Saw him get dragged away by the police.
Worst was when i was traveling back up alone one night managed to get a seat to myself, woman a few seats down just across from me was huge big fat lady, she started having ■■■ with this African bloke she was sitting beside.
Those are the highlights, seen fair share of fights and headcases on that journey.

Have I misread this. You are saying that passengers who arrived BEFORE the scheduled departure were refused permission to travel…if so thats outrageous. But if your saying that the drivers were not waiting for passengers who would arrive LATER than the departure time then I fail to see the problem.
I drove National Express Coaches for 3 years and I never waited more than 10 minutes for no shows. National Express Services are run for the public and some people rely on them for connections to other destinations. It shows a lack of planning and respect to other passengers to arrive late for a departure. How long are you saying the coaches should wait for passengers that may or may not show up, 5, 10, 15 minutes etc etc. You have to draw the line somewhere and as far as I am concerned a departure time should be exactly that…the time the coach departs. If your late sorry but tough.
my dad didnt take any crap from passengers when he was driving buses (now acting inspector). he sorted out the troublemakers himself by either throwing them off or punching them and throwing them off
It was passengers turning up at the exact time the coaches departure time. But ideally they should be at the gate at ten minutes before departure time. The passenger in Chippenham arrived in his car and tried to wave the coach down to stop, once we left it was too late.He then followed us to Swindon, then it was a shouting match.Same thing at Dover, with a car chasing us to the next stop.
