Yes, your allowed out of the cab “once”, but make sure you turn the engine off. But you should need too - as in the real world you slowly reverse it so it hits the dock
Sorry to read you failed wills.
Just get that £200 together again mate & get straight back on that horse.
You’ll sail thru next time.
Sorry to hear your bad luck Wills
keep at it…I’m sure you"ll do it next time…

This question has arisen a number of times on here over the years. Essentially, the LGV driving manual lists getting out of the vehicle as a ‘Serious’ (or it did the last time I read it) however, a (small) number of people have identified instances where it is acceptable.
I can only presume that different S.E.'s have differing attitudes because, let’s face it, in the real world, if one was uncertain, what would be the logical thing to do? And surely the Driving Test is a test of one’s ability to operate such a vehicle in an everyday working environment.?
The instructor should know the policy at the local centre.

1st Lesson…NOW I know how you judge the back of your vehicle
little mark on side of trailer to line up with target in drivers mirror, simple but very effective.
In my limited experience this is a trick that is only ever used on training vehicles
In the real world, changing vehicles daily and wth long, short, tall, slouched drivers it just doesn’t happen- I tend to keep going till the rubber bump stops stop me (be warned-this works only on loading bays, not in motorway services)
Hi all, many yhanx for your replies, had a couple of days now to reflect & realised today how much I want this Licence…Gonna have to find some extra work to fund it, just hope I don’t forget everything
BigLebowski Now on the Reverse manouver - as xlthunter said, You are allowed to get out of the Vehicle to take a look - I was 1st told this was a minor - then another instructor said it wasnt The Londoners reverse The C+E Test Reverse “Collins”

I took a look on both my class C & C+E Test - 1 examiner gave me a minor the other didnt even give me that
Welsh zebra cheers pal - I hope so too
Markymark Goin to get some extra weekend work to raise the money I need - not goona give up yet
mrpj thanks -I’m feeling more positive now - & will book the re-test as soon as I’ve raised the £200
stvme2519 - my start times were @ 07.00 - 12.00 with the drive shared between 2 of us, so we were getting about 2 1/2 hours drive a day for 4 days - then an hour or so before Test… The mark for the Artic is on a Trailer wheels Mudflap, no idea how Collin got it so wrong - I took a look as it wasnt worth not takin one just in case I was slightly short - as sometimes you change your seating position which affects the marks accuracy… Can’t complain @ all about CTT
Gazzareth cheers mate - gonna give it another go asap
bacardi Thankyou thats really cheered me up …felt really dispondent yesterday!! but pulled myself back together again today - Looked @ the junction on google Earth where i went over the Kerb
& I do remember now exactly what I did wrong… I did get my poistion but I did not pull forward enough before I started to turn… the other minors again will try not to make the same mistakes
Drive safe ( watch out for them Kerbs )

BIG LEBOWSKI:
As for funding mate. If you ain’t got the dosh for the retest then get yourself an interest free credit card (introductry rate, 9 months the majority) and whack it on that? That way you can get your retest sooner and repay it interest free for 9 months. Just a thought…
that would be great if I didnt have £3000 on one already
I did get my poistion but I did not pull forward enough before I started to turn…
Easily done, becomes second nature after a little while of driving - but feels very strange when you are learning, especially if someone is on your outside. Don’t beat yourself up over it though - it is hard to pass !!!
G
Gazzareth cheers mate I’m feeling a lot better about it now!!!

It ain’t necasseraly so: so far I have passed all 4 of my driving tests on the first try- passing just means you have reached the minimum requirement, and doesn’t mean you are any good- just look at all those school run Doris’ who cant manouver their short wheelbase land rovers, they all passed a test :s
thats 3 of you BN that have helped me out now I’ll be singing KRO the way its going Are there any Villa fans left out there , or are we to posh to drive trucks
