My job this week plus the new scania

well this is what ive been driving this week and i thinks its a cracking truck

im on for arla foods in leeds but not the dairy side

the agency asked me to go into arla and as i know its a crap job said no cos on the dairy side they send you out with up to 15 deliverys all cages plus the returns so that wasnt going to happen to me.
i was promised its a new job they are starting and its from the chilled side next to the dairy max 2 drops a day and maybe one collection all to rdc’s so i gave it ago.
sun started at 3.30am i went to morrison’s at northwich got on the bay at 6 am tipped by 7 am and waited till 10 am for my notes    apperently morrison’s are in dispute with arla cos arla send in the load all mixed up on pallets and morrison’s want it all on seperate pallets so morrison’s are taking they time checking then for good measure check it again :imp: :imp:
so all in all sun day i finished at 13.00

mon i started at 5.30 went to phil hanleys at bell eau park or what ever its called and was out of there in 40 mins and stopped for 1 hrs kip on the big layby back up to the A1 then did a delivery in wakefield and was back in leeds for 11.30 and was told " that was quick ".

tues did costco at lutterworth got there at 6.30 am tipped and out at 9.30 am back up to ossett the matthews foods at ossett loaded a trailer there and finished at 15.30 and thats where i took the pics.

beauty truck for driving the only thing is my knee keeps hitting the door catch and putting the central locking on.

and what a waste of space this is should have been a locker and that map slot    cant fit my bridge map in :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

and as it was my first time on fridges… how can i bloody fit in there 6ft tall and 15 1/2 stone.

jimmy krankie would have trouble getting in there.

anyway its a good truck and i think it could become my favourite.

Surprised your mate Rob hasn’t told you the drill  . If not, Coffee will be along soon :unamused: .

Got my own safe method, but you wouldn’t be interested   .

Salut, David.

If you’re uncomfortable with split coupling, here’s what we do with our 45s (the front of the box overhangs the suzi-board by 2.5ft, so split coupling isn’t an option on our older trailers)…

  1. Hitch on, check dog-clip/thing that drops/thing that goes sideways/whatever.
  2. Take trailer brake off (if it was on in the first place :unamused: ) and hit shunt button (Just release the ratchet-brake on the real old dogs …yes, we still have a couple… ).
  3. Pull forward out of parking space and jack it hard around to whichever way you’re going/have room.
  4. Suzi-board will now be at 90 degrees to the back of the unit and can be accessed easily. Obviously if it’s higher up, you need something to stand on to attach your lines…Wear a hard hat and hi-viz vest to ensure the success of your compo claim if you fall off.

Last sentence aside, I’m serious about this method, it works beautifully…even I can do it without ending up black from head to foot! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:   :grimacing:

good idea luc what ive been doing is…

backing underneath halfway making sure trailer brake is on then connect all the lines leave the legs lowered then carry on reversing under and do the tug to make its caught then wind up legs and let the brake off.

i found this the best way but i dont know if its the safe way.

well done dave taken in good jest

We used to do split coupling at Exel/Somerfield,but it was slightly different, insofar as we had to put the trailer brake on,back under about half way, connect the suzies, and then slide under until the pin clicked.Tugged forward, and then take the trailer brake off,and away we went.

A 53 hour week  i take it they do not know about the wtd :unamused:

In the space you are calling a map slot is where the Scania clipboard goes which you get with the truck when its new. Our lot take them out also the toolboxes with all the bulbs in.

JD, have they done anything about the fotweel drivers side in them 4 series? I drove an 02, it was allright apart from the footwell, i bleeding hated that, there was no room.
