That is total BS, but I’m happy for you to keep repeating it wherever possible so we can keep the north for northeners.
If only more people over crowding the saf of the country would follow your advice by voting with their feet.
Meanwhile tomorrow’s job is for North Yorkshire admittedly much better than Slough.
I could have said Watford for a laugh.
But seriously the west side up to the Scottish Islands.
Less so the East side only Northumbria. But might have a trip to the Shetlands in June if the weather is worth it.
Admittedly there are plenty of exceptions proving rules between.
But a lot of the North is a treeless barren wasteland punctuated by loads of flat wetlands like as I said North Lincolnshire and Humberside.
I prefer our Surrey and Sussex Hills to the Lake District in that specific regard and Switzerland to the Peak District and will probably still prefer Sardinia to the Shetlands.
Since when was North Lincolnshire and Humberside classed as THE NORTH? They’re the Midlands where I come from!
To a Mid-lander like CF maybe Lincs is a bit North?
I reckon the North starts at Winchester.
I’m surprised he does not refer to it as the Middle East…(of England) for trucking boasting rights .
To be fair North can be anywhere from Milan to Trondheim depending on perspective.
I’m sure that Manchester, let alone anywhere Norf of that, is well North of Birmingham and Leicester every time I need to go there.
Also most of the trains there have Norvern or trans Pennine or LNER written all over them not Midlands Railway.
Also sure that Cleethorpes and Liverpool are in the Norf not the Midlands.
Derby and Stafford maybe.
From my perspective, Southampton is well north. So your snobbery is proper misplaced, Carryfast.
Well I always have to go south to get to any of the places you mention BUT not all the way south SO they must be in the Midlands
Touché !

That’s you, Carryfast has never been past the Post Office.
You seem to have missed my statement that Milan to Trondheim is the Norf depending on perspective.
Let’s get this right Manchester and Liverpool and Sheffield let alone Leeds and Hull and Grimsby are all in the Midlands …as far as Carlisle and Newcastle are concerned.
To be fair I was born Norf of the River Thames in Middx by circumstance but bred in Surrey by the grace of God.Although my Grandfather and Great Grandfather would probably have had issues with that statement Saf Lincolnshire or not.
Although for some reason even there obviously felt the need to separate themselves from North Lincolnshire let alone Humberside.
Blast from the past…I bet some have heard these tracks but don’t know the origins.
Redbone. 1970’s US Native American origins, and pop.
Witch Queen of New Orleans! I remember that very well. In the early 70’s we saw the birth of K-Tel and the compilation LP of chart hits, I recall pestering my parents to get me K-Tels “20 Dynamic Hits” (as advertised on TV) Redbone was on this, along with Deep Purple and many other excellent tunes.
K-tel compilations were not to be confused with the Top of the Pops compilations from Pickwick/Hallmark, featuring session musicians playing the hits of the day, as I found to my huge disappointment as a child of about 10 or 11. Note the similarity of the cover with “top shelf” magazine covers
Those Top of the Pops albums were covers done by session musicians (including a young Reg Dwight incidentally later known as Elton John) and NEVER sounded like the original tracks.
The K.Tel ones were original artists.
Just noticed Rod Argent on that sleeve, presumably with ‘Hold your head up’.
Good track…check it out.
Christ you got me started now…
Another track another artist from around the same era.
When I first heard as a young kid it I thought that The Stones had recruited a keyboard player.
My Uncle Jim misheard the DJ on the car radio as ‘Tommy Brewster’ (my mind always stores these daft things) …’
Real name of band…ATOMIC ROOSTER.
Track…Devils Answer.
Have a listen.
