mr vine

anyone hear radio 2 today with jeremey vine they were talking about why so many waggons were blown over during the bad weather he had a driver on the phone who has been on before and some other bloke who had some mad idea about grading driver on experience which whould decided if a driver could or could not drive in certain weather :open_mouth: wtf

I fully agree with grading drivers to experience too.

1 years experience, allowed in daylight summertime only restricted to 30 mph with a 2nd man with more than 3 years experience.

2 years experience, allowed out up to 00.00 on own within 100 km of base.

3 years experience, allowed to work full night shift with supervision for 3 months.

4 years experience, allowed out day, night and in the rain. No need for a 2nd man.

5 years experience, Only allowed out in windy conditions after 1 month training with another driver with at least 3 years windy driving experience.

Year 6, can now train someone in year 1.

Well, basically trucks should not be allowed to move at all during the day because that just hinders folk trying to go about their business and they shouldn’t be allowed to move at night because people are trying to sleep. They shouldn’t be allowed to move during bad weather because they get stuck on ice and blown over in the wind and they shouldn’t be allowed to move during nice weather because that’s when everybody wants to take the kids to Alton Towers.

There, I think that’s covered it.

His mad plan should be implemented, only the other way around.

The more experienced you are, the lower your grade. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s the more experienced so-called professionals that are the worst drivers. Speeding, cleaning your windscreen with their barn doors as they pull back into lane one to show how pro they are, driving full speed into a line of stationary cars etc etc. New drivers tend to be more careful.

And we should also, without exception, restrict the driving of anyone who listens to Jeremy Vine to nothing more than a push-bike, with a small basket on the handlebars and a couple of wicker panniers, for the first 82 years after passing their LGV test. Their judgement is obviously suspect and letting them lose in a Juggernaut would be a mistake, possibly even a fatal mistake, I think.

good luck with this

they ask why trucks were on the road in scotland yesterday, well i was up in montrose and was constanly listening to traffic updates and reading various websites.
police did advise against driving, but also further down the webpage was advice for hgv’s AT no point did they tell you not to be on the road, i past numerous police vehicles including 4 at the top of the M9 where two trucks had gone over and at no point was told its too unsafe to be on the road so park up please driver.

so to mr vine thats why i drove yesterday hope that answers your question, surprised he didnt have that stupid bint on from swindon complaining how a hgv falling over in scotland has ruined her christmas

did wonder what the gypo with the transit tipper and dual axle caravan was thinking when he thought yesterday was a good day to move plots, now thats when old bill stopped someone…

Was the restricted to 30mph a joke I missed? Bloody 40 limits a joke in itself.

I have a wife App on my phone. Although I do believe some people refer to it as YouPorn.

it’s the more experienced so-called professionals that are the worst drivers.

They are not “so-called professionals”, they are “professionals”, since the adjective “professional” merely qualifies a person as receiving remuneration for the task in which he is engaged. Similarly, the Accrington Stanley goalkeeper does not cease to be a professional footballer simply because he is not very good at keeping the football out of his net.

Don’t they teach you anything at school?

FTFY. You’re welcome.

Thank you. It almost seems compulsory on this forum to precede the word “professionals” with the term “so-called”, in much the same way that women seem compelled to precede the word “mud” with the word “traipse”, which is never heard in any other grammatical combination.

They should definitely be banned from going anywhere near the likes of Asda , Tesco’s or sainsburys.
Oh and they should be banned from the roads for 1 full month of the year, December.

I think the problem of racism in the road transport industry should be addressed, I see no reason why black and Asian people shouldn’t have to put up with it too.

As a. . . ahem . . Radio 2 listener  I heard Ken Bruce and the traffic bint discussing as to why you never hear of " Pantechnicons" being blown over any more?
Apparentley, they are too heavily loaded nowadays, so they dont run the risk of being toppled !! :unamused:

there was 2 callers 1 a bus driver and 1 a trucker both been suspended by there employer because they rang the office and said they did not think it was safe to keep on driving :open_mouth: id have thought this harsh as its you at the wheel and only you could make that call

For the sake of Harry ‘■■■■’ Monk, I will rephrase my previous comment.

I went to school in the 90’s and learnt how to skin up, how to persuade an adult to buy an eleven year old a bottle of vodka and how to knock someone out with one punch.
