MP is not interested in Drivers problems at Calais

P.S. If anyone sees Lily Allen do me a favour, kick her in the …! :open_mouth:

The article I read about her visit to the jungle, said that she had taken time out of her recording schedule for her new album to visit the jungle, any see a z list celeb/singer trying to raise her profile prior to her new album being released, but she wished she hadn’t bothered now from the back lash on Social Media

this has got Me wondering, assuming that the jungle will still be there or some thing like it, at the time of the next general election, I wonder how many MP’s will visit it in the 3 months or so before polling day. I think their humanitarian principles may be taking a back seat, in favour of winning back their seat.

As for that MP’s response to a constituents genuine concerns, woeful doesn’t even start to describe it. But it nothing other than we would expect. MP’s have their own agenda, most of which has little to do with ordinary peoples lives and concerns, hence why we have arrived at the situation of Brexit, because Cameron and buddies didn’t expect the out vote, just as they didn’t expect such a close vote in Scottish independence vote a couple of years ago :unamused:

Most people, I would reckon, have compassion for genuine refugees, maybe that’s why there seems to be an acceptance of the millions of pounds the British government is putting into the refugee camps in the Lebanon Jordan and Turkey, this help assists those that have decided to stay in the region or that cant leave the region, but people aren’t stupid, and its clear that those who’ve reached the jungle are chancers, and the sooner the government scrap the le touquet agreement and employ enough border guards at Dover to search every truck, and any stowaways found be put straight back on the next ship back to Calais the better. Then that might be the first positive thing to come from Brexit

Who ate all the pies lard ■■■ bird, was probably visiting Calais jungle for the publicity and nothing more, (traitor) lilly allen what a moron again seeking media attention ,
Many of us would have all the foreign aid stopped tomorrow because the rest of the world’s problems aren’t for us to resolve, and it isn’t in the millions in 2015 it was £16BILLION that is more than we spend on the home office

As for reverting the border back to Dover, there would need to be a change in law too as because once off the ferry they have reached/entered the uk, therefore drivers /companies would be fined , and why back in the day drivers would always check their lorries before driving off the ferry at dover, and if any scumbags found they refused to move until they were removed from their lorry

I wasn’t sure how much it was, but that amount to keep several million Syrians near Syria and not trying to get into the UK for a lifetime of hand outs is money well spent, I will assume that we wont agree on that.

Yes understand that there would need to be quite a few changes in law and Government policy, not least the bloody government actually sending these scum back to France, but the le touquet agreement doesn’t seem to be working, because these illegal migrant are still getting through, and in some number I would reckon. I think that the Government need to act first, before the French renege on the agreement, and leave our border open to all comers, though to be honest I’m not expecting May and co to put in place the contingency ready for when it happens, I fully expect them throw their hands up shock saying the French said they would honour le touquet, yeah right :unamused: :unamused:

No doubt somewhere in the list of expenses claimed for the trip to Calais will be mention of the 15 megawhoppamaxiburgers and extra large monstersize chips it stuffed in its fat face, and which it is expecting us to pay for. :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp:

The £16 billion in aid isn’t just for syria, Africa too, yet it hasn’t stopped them invading us has it?, so we end up paying twice,
The reason why there are so many getting through in lorries is down to the french security staff at the ports, not doing the job they are paid to do, It should done by a uk company or army,France is better equipped as far as vehicle holding areas go, because by checking every lorry/van coming into the port is going to cause a backlog, there is not enough space to do this at dover, May is a traitor and failed this country in her last job

I knew we wouldn’t agree on the Aid issue

I do see that keeping the problem on the French side of the Channel makes perfect sense. My point of issue is 2 fold-
1/ I don’t believe the French are going to keep it going, they must be heartily sick of the camps and the migrants, and closing the “jungle” will simply mean another will spring up some where else, so where is the incentive for the French to put up with all this hassle, which will just be ongoing for years to come, at one point they will say stuff this and remove all the obstacles, so it will be open season.
2/ The British Government need to get tough, and start instant deportations back to France for any illegals found on lorries coming through the straights of Dover(or any where), that will mean having to stand lorries at Dover for obligatory checks, this will impede the process at the port, and so be it, then maybe the Ferry companies will dip their own hands into their not inconsiderable profits to employ security staff in France who will do the job properly. This would likely shift the problem to other ports, in which case stowaways will be sent back to the port of departure for the Vessel they have illegally used to cross from Europe to here.

The only way to cure this, is to make it untenable to stowaway in a truck as a method to enter this Country, because discovery is a certainty, and deportation is instant.

Yes May failed completely in the Home Office, and yet seems to be riding a crest of optimism based on hard rhetoric which I’m not expecting to be delivered :unamused:

Ps I voted remain, I still believe it was the best option, but I don’t believe in going back over the old arguments, we are going by popular vote I accept that, though I’m going to ■■■■■■■■ and moaning about it.
With Brexit though, comes the opportunity to shake things up, BIG STYLE that includes how we operate our borders and immigration policy, if the Government don’t take this chance to get tough on illegal immigrants then it will be a betrayal of probably 90% of those that voted leave, and a betrayal of the rest of us leave or remainers, who are sick of the prevarication of the Westminster Liberal elite who’ve mismanaged this country for so long

Im with you pretty much all the way there Eddie. Firstly, well done to the O.P. alexsaville, for trying to hold our M.P.s to account, and letting us all know the outcome. Secondly, as Pierrot has said the upcoming French elections seem have the effect of promises to flatten the "jungle". French politicos are pretty much from the same mould as our domestic breed. But as the jungle grew from the Sangatte camp, so another camp will surely arise from the ruins of the jungle when its gone. Without getting rid of all the migrants, and stopping new arrivals there will always be some form of settlement there.
Thirdly, as Eddie says a few million spent in or near Syria will have a much greater effect than the same amount spent in Europe. The money spent on security around the ports would better have helped the “women & kids” (those around Calais the media always seem to find) to remain closer to their own homes.
As a regular user of the ports in the Western Channel I have praise for the security staff there. The ports there are nowhere near as busy as in Calais, tis true, but Every truck has a physical and CO2 check. Takes a bit of time, yes, but so what? It is an inconvenience, but it IS necessary.
We need a multi pronged approach to immediately make it harder for those who reach the Channel to continue, and stop them being in such desperate straits at home that a risky journey across Europe seems like a good option.
A cheap, easy solution does not exist. Any solution to the present problem will cost loads and will take time to have effect. Any quick fix promised by any politician is worth the same as most politicians promises. Nowt.

Remember this time last year when Yvette Cooper said she would take refugees into her home. In March of this year Nick Ferrari interviewed her on her favourite subject - !

I had to turn this off…it makes my ■■■■ fizz!

What the government wants is to build houses for the small amount of Syrian refugees…really?

What about building social housing for the large amount of British people that need them!

I might sound rather callous but I couldn’t give 2 knows of goat ■■■■ about refugees. If you’ve travelled from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Syria or some other 2 Bob ■■■■ hole and you’re on the northern coast of France, you’ve travelled through umpteen safe countries where you could have claimed asylum, but nooooooooo you want the golden land that is Britain. I’ve said for years that the port of call is should be militarised. If one refugee got shot climbing the fence, breaking into a wagon or sneaking on to the euro star they’d soon think twice. And any that make it to these shores should be shipped straight back to France as per the Geneva Convention.

Sorry…rant over, brew time.

Double post.

MPs are usually useless enough to start with. It seems there is a mathematical correlation though between the IQ of an MP and where their constituency lies…

“The further away from a port their constituency lies - the lower the IQ”.

I can’t see her holding onto that seat come the next election. :smiling_imp:

Need more than 2 hands to hold onto HER seat.

IF they must bring refugees into the UK there are already several suitable sites available & owned & managed by HM Government many of which have recently been mothballed. These sites have all the nessesary facilities in place (healthcare, catering, social services, laundry, gymnasiums, places of worship & more) to accommodate the needs of hundreds, if not thousands of refugees and economic migrants. All that’s needed to recommission them is to bring in the right number of professionals & staff to provide the help & services reqd. The infrastructure is already in place to transport them to/from these sites, in some cases, some sites (if not all) have facilities to hear legal/immigration cases onsite or via video link to experdite the process of deciding wether they should stay or be deported.

What? You expect a government department to invest some money up front and thereby save loadsa dosh later? Did you never see the documentaries by Jonathon Lynn and the recently deceased Anthony Jay?

We have all seen the carnage being caused by these migrants, though i must admit that those in Sangatte were more peaceful, even though we did end up taking them before that camp closed down, maybe the French thought we would do it again. Obviously our Governments do not see what we see, neither experience the gauntlet of desperation we endure, not only in Calais, but all of the ports along the French coast, we only can do what we can do, Cord Up padlocks on the handles, and yet can still face a fine of £2000 per Immigrant, then we have our bosses having to pay for repairs to the trailer, the dumping of the produce through contamination, albeit through Insurance.
Someone should explain to our government what is going on !..We have just agreed to a huge wall being built, just as the French decide to close the camp and disperse the immigrants to other parts of France, and we are contributing £millions to help them re-settle, dont make me laugh…of course the other piece of news is that the French have Trialed armed marshalls on their ferries, because of the fear of terrorists, no one has yet commented on the Brit ferries as to whether they will follow.

At the end of the day, oh how i wish truckers were united, unionised, then i know we would get more protection when we all refused to work abroad, or actually down tools until our needs are met, then our MP`s would take notice.

Deciding if they can be granted asylum or not, , no if they enter this country by illegal means and travel without ID (or destroy it en route here) they should be deported, Mug shot fingerprints , DNA all taken , as well as biometrics for future use, with the DNA profile they can work out where they are from, not only this but all that scum at Calais are not refugees as they are in a safe country and not fleeing anything , many have already refused asylum in france, So no need to waste lots more tax payers money paying for legal aid and court time and taking months to do that the processing i have highlighted could be completed in hours, and they could be deported within days that is how we should deal with this problem, we could save even more by just returning them to France let the frogs whine who cares this scum ain’t our problem

they could use chartered planes or prison ships, used to send them back, failing that put in a military plane issued with basic parachutes and dropped back into their homelands in those cases where their country doesn’t want them back,
