moving to canada

hi, we’re hoping to go to manitoba in aug if our house is sold, stange you should say about the forces as paul was in the royal tank regiment 81/87

Hi creamcrackered
My husband as you can see from the posting was in the royal corps of transport 82-89,before I met him.Has your husband got a job to go to and if so where will he be working?Have you been before to Manitoba? we will be going to Steinbach, just waiting for paper work to go through and should be out there in july aug can’t wait.
Rocket

just got back from a weeks trip out there, flew into winnipeg picked up the hire car and drove to saskatoon for a interview with siemens (kindersley). seemed like the women was interviewing me more than paul to make sure I knew what I was letting myself in for, anyway paul starts with kindersley on the 21st of aug, it just depends on whether we can get the house sold in time, if not we might have to put it back a month or so.

I’m looking at houses around steinbach, st anne, and niverville look good, i’m not a city person and i figure with paul away for 12 days at a time me and the kids need to feel at home, kids fancy an acreage but i’m more inclined to feel as if i’ve got people near me, i know the kids as well and feel that as soon as the novelty has worn off they’ll want other kids to play with.

have you looked 4 anywhere to live yet?

I made my own leap of faith in 1985 and have never regretted it,though I wish i had done some things differently

If you have the determination to make a better life for yourself then you will be able to overcome the problems that will arise. After a year or so you will have it figured out.

Don’t be one of those immigrants who complain endlessly about the company they work for ,the trucks they have to drive or the country they live in.North America is not England .

I wish you best of luck

Rich

Hi creamcrackered
we have been looking on the mls website and seen quite a few houses we like, but they’ll probably be gone by the time we get out there.we want one with some land and as long as it’s not that far from steinbach we should be ok,Ron will be out for about 10days and home for 4 so I’m hoping to get a few animals to keep me occupied aswell, and try and get a job even if it’s only stacking shelves in the local supermarket.
Ron wants to take the boys hunting, though the eldest can’t stand the sight of blood, he’s like me :exclamation: feels queezy when he sees a bit of blood,so god knows what he’ll be like. How old are your children? mine are 11 and 8 both boys, hey who knows maybe they’ll end up at the same schools :exclamation:
keep in touch

I too am going for a job interview, with siemans, but my question is the things they require of you like a criminial records check, how do I go about getting one of those,I back in the UK but only been here two months, been abroad most of my life, and hello to all you ex squaddies out there

Hi Roy
We went to our police station and got the forms from there, it costs £10.00 but with you living abroad you’ll probably have to apply to that country aswell.
Rocket

Okay thanks for that Rocket, better get it sorted out ASP ,

Hi Roy
