Just how dumb a driver is this guy.
Red x’s … no vehicals in left lanes…lots of cones and nice twinkling flashing lights …and he still didnt see them

i just drove up on friday from luton to cairnryan via spalding, out of all the useless signs, then the most memorable ones were at 4 a.m in the morning 10 miles from j44 when theres absolutely no traffic whatsoever theres a gantry sign switched on telling me that my journey time to j44 wil be…wait for it, 10 minutes… then the classic best of all on the 75 at dumfries reminding me to make sure ive got skoosh in my windscreen skooshers!!!..vital info or what? who actually decides what rubbish to flash up anyway? if you have the ability to pass a driving test, then surly these signs are an insult to anyones intelligence? could they not just put the plobbers on the dole,or at least if they still want to kid themselves on that they have got a worthwhile job work, let them be mobile traffic cones or mudflaps for the ones that are prepared to travel?

Came down the m6 yesterday afternoon just before j22 there was a traffic "officer " parked up on his little slip road all the flashing lights going on looking very pretty and he was … ASLEEP.

How much training do you have to do to be that good ■■? :open_mouth: :grimacing:

Joined M1 northbound from M25 to read the first sign saying M18 northbound access to slip road closed…well at least it gave me loads of time to re plan my route ie go to the junction past the M18 and come back south.

Take that up with Traffic Scotland, nothing to do with us, same as the signs in Wales. The Highways Agency only operates in England.

They’re always asleep in the little wooden gated compound at J39 Shap summit on the M6 through the night too. I come off at that junction most nights of the week.

Something needs to be done about ignoring red Xs and cone surfing into roadworks. Surely some kind of camera could be developed to catch these morons out. The authorities seem to love speed cameras yet ignoring red Xs is far more dangerous than doing 45 in a 40 zone .

Err, no we’re not, that’s where we park the spare car when the crew is made up of an officer from Carlisle and Kendal. We meet there, park the spare car and go on patrol in one car. Nice try but no banana.

Yeah, we get the idea. You don’t like us, shut the ■■■■ up, you’re boring me now. You do your job and I’ll do mine, you haven’t heard me slagging you off. I could lower myself and paint you with the same brush as your unprofessional law breaking colleagues, but I have more self restraint and pride than that. Have a nice life and try and stay safe.

you just did.■■..there are none so blind, etc…nice to know im surrounded with unprofessional law breaking workmates though.( jobsorths refer to them as colleagues, tosco employ hundreds of them.)you obviously don’t understand the reality of your occupation as perceived by countless law breaking workmates.

Oh but you are so don’t try wriggle out of it. The guy in the driver seat was sat there clear as anything with the seat back and head over to one side, gob wide open fast asleep. Strangely there’s not been anyone there the past 2 nights, which is rather coincidental… I guess you’ve found somewhere else to get your kip in out of Joe Public view!

There’s been no one there for the last two nights as I’ve been on with someone from my own station and I haven’t had to travel down to Shap to team up. I’m parking the spare car there tonight if you want to wave at an empty car. I’ll recline the seat so you can tell everyone I was asleep.

Other ones seen with people in usually have side lights or headlights on, obviously. I’ll give you a toot-toot on the airhorns when I come past if I see anyone kipping again, should be around 0230.

The only ones you’ll be waking up will be your fellow drivers who have been busy churning up the farmers land either side off the road.

“Something needs to be done about people ignoring the lane closed RED X” comment, last night i was northbound on the M6 within the so called managed area, and the gantry was displaying a 40 limit and a 2 lane closure, but the next gratry was not even lit,■■? the HA also need to stop playing little games with false lane closures, there was a two lane closure several juntions further north, how many got snapped by the camera for not breaking any law?

Once these overhead signs are used correcly ie only used when needed and not left displaying old messages that are no longer relivent, then more people would obey them

Also why do they put cones out closing lanes (night time) hours before they even are going to start actually working on that part of the motorway, that’s assuming that they even manage to do the work that night do they think that journeys made at nights are not as important as those made during the daytime?
