Does anyone have any decent advice anywhere on the hazard perception side of things I passed the questions both tests but can’t get pass the hazard perception. First test I only clicked once per hazard. The second time today I click event or 4 times but only scored 39 points. Winding me up because I’ve done cbt and one days big bike training but can’t advance until I’ve passed theory. I’ve bought a disc but it doesn’t really tell you how many times to click when to click or anything. I’m getting to the point where I’m thinking of giving up but I’ve already got a gsx 750f waiting to take me out. Cheers for any advice .

Not to be offensive but why ask on a trucknet site regarding motorbike.

Maybe he’ll get some useful advice.

All I can say regarding hazard perception is when you see the hazard click, then click a second afterwards.

There you go…got some.

Got 62, never done the test in my life

I am a driving god & computer game wizard & I found it tough to

You found it tough, because your claim of being a computer game wizard is bobbins!

I agree that the tests are a load of manure though. All it proved was that I was good at tests (and read the instructions)

Now I have had a chance to dig 'em out (both first time…)

LGV Theory test 01/11/2007: 60/60 Multichoice part. 66/75 for hazard perception (14 clips).
Double Hazard clip: 10pts
6 clips: 5pts
5 clips: 4pts
2 clips: 3pts.

PCV Theory test 02/11/2007: 60/60 Multichoice part. 65/75 for hazard perception (14 clips).
Double hazard clip: 8pts
6 clips: 5pts.
6 clips: 4pts.
1 clip: 3 pts.

Those were the two and only theory tests I’ve taken having passed cat B 1991 and cat A in 1993. I studied the rules of the game and how to best approach landing my click inside the window (2 click method). Both multichoice tests completed in less than 9 minutes of the 70 minutes allowed. That’s 9 seconds a question instead of 70. Learnt the entire question bank until I knew each one back-to-front. It’s not as hard as learning 1200-odd questions. It’s really only 300-odd questions phrased 4 different ways, so you have to be careful with things like “which on of the following” and “which one of the following is not”.

I’m a very average driver though and I’m crap at The Times crossword.

What you see as a hazard the computer might not

Click once then count to 5 click again & so on

Or go & play a computer game apparently they can help ( not sure if they do as dont play them )

There are loads of hazard perception test videos on YouTube which show you were the hazards are, and when you should be clicking.

the clue might be in the failed word , give it up and stay alive. some one cares about you why bring misery to them.

That’s the spirit. Safety first! If you’d been around a few thousand years ago we may all still be sat shivering in our fire-less caves with a life expectancy of around 20 years. At least it’d be 20 safe years though eh?

theres some truth in what you say but some bike riders are like kjw21 s avatar.

  . It’s the first time I’ve noticed the avatar. Point taken .

what’s all this theory stuff about? when i took my motorbike test,i just trundled around the block on my BSA combo.,looked out for the geezer with the clip-board about to jump out for the ‘emergency stop’…then crawled along on tick-over as he walked alongside to make sure i had the bike under control, parked up and went inside the test centre to collect my ‘pass’…easy-peasy!

I done something similar but now you have to take a theory test & hazard perception test

Which is really pointless as no matter which test you taken ( bike car hgv bus ) they use the same clips

Got my theory at half 2 hopefully I’ll pass . Will let you all know I’m going to click then click again and a 3rd time just before passing see how I get on.

Well then how did you get on?

^^^^ This

It’s not hazards you click for, it’s developing hazards. They are quite blatantly obvious. But shoot your bolt (easy done with experience) and click before the score window opens and it’s nil points. Click once, then a second time a second later, will mean you should hit the score window with the second click, if you didn’t with the first. If you hit the score window with both, the first click score is what you get.

If you still can’t do it after the above, then it’s time to settle for a Yamaha Chappy.

Spot on advice and completely true. The hazard perception test is a complete farce especially for experienced drivers.
The theory test is a waste of time as well.People learn the answers then as soon as they pass most of it is forgotten.
Bring back learning the highway code as very few seem to know the rules these days.Either that or they just blatantly ignore them.

I don’t often agree with Albion1971  but the above is spot on.

In fact, when it first came out, Most instructors and examiners failed because they were spotting hazards too soon. It’s just another dCPC type ‘pretend it’s a useful safety excersise’ yet all it is in reality is another way to take money off you.

I think the whole theory side of things should be scrapped. Get the examiner to talk to the student. Answer questions on the Code, and discuss scenarios. Much better for the examiner to do this, than someone just learning all the answers in a book/ on a DVD, without a clue what it actually is all about.

Big Jase is right when saying that you can see hazards before a 17 yld. I nearly fail my Hazards on HGV cause of it. Try this site www.drivingtheory4all.co.uk
It did make sense after trying them out . Good luck and don’t give up

Hey everyone, sorry it’s been a whole thanks for all the help and advice. I managed to pass my theory on the third attempt played it like a video game that it is rather than a hazard perception test. Anyway did my part 1 last Wednesday passed that. Today I have my part 2 I’m pooing myself my nerves won’t let me sleep I’ve got the bike it’s all ready to go I tonight I just need to pass at 1.40pm I start training at 9 am. Should be ok but I need to fix the nerves before hand :frowning:.

Good luck!
