My training vehicle is due for MOT at the end of June.
If I take it for MOT at the start of June and it fails can I still use the vehicle, or do I have to put it in for retest before I can use it.

You can still use it as it still has a current MOT
If it was deemed UNSAFE then those nice people at the test centre will not let you drive it out onto the public highway
it depends “How” it fails if it fails and you get a prohibition notice (PG9) then you can’t !
and surprisingly I have heard of vehicles being taken for test that this happens to ( not mine as I’m not that stupid, but the workshop I use is a couple of hundred yards from a test centre and I’ve seen vehicles recovered there for repair)

But if its failed an MOT test, then its not considered to be roadworthy, and can only be driven back to its base or to a place of maintenance, and back to the testing station for retesting.

Unfortunately, if your vehicle fails the test,it is defective and should be repaired. However, you still have a current MOT!!
So you cant be done for no MOT…But you can be done for defective vehicle any time! If you continue using it.
on a anpr camera the vehicle will also come up as NO MOT remember all mot’s are now computer.and a mot fail also makes the old mot now void.you can only drive the vehicle as long as its not considered dangerouse to a point of repair or back to base(and this also means you shouldnt stop on the way home for food or anything like that)

Myth.
not according to my new mot book in front of me…unless it dont apply to vehicles over 3.5tonne…

My freind you talk ■■■■■■■■. Once an MOT is issued nothing can cancel it! End of! Failure of a new test does NOT invalidate the result of a test taken nearly a year ago!! You all mix up lack of current MOT and Defective vehicle.
sorry i take it back yes its right a fail does not cancel the old mot.only if it has run out will the vehicle only be able to drive back to base or place of repair as long as not dangerouse.
Had a longer read of my CD instead of my book. Was on the understanding that once a fail has been issued it then made the old mot basically worthless but as long as the faults are reapired the old mot still stands…
Car MOT certificates have an expiry date, HGV vehicles run out at the end of the month

Yeah, you see what I mean? Once I issue a ticket thats it done. He has an MOT,however,He might put all His legal tyres on his mates vehicle for test, rendering his illegal…but it still has an MOT!! The Saturday mornings I’ve spent looking at the same set of tyres on Transit vans.

But that would still be an expiry date would it not?
Dunno then?:

Yeah, suppose so, you see what you mean though, a car with an expiry date of the 13th will not be MOT’d on the 14th whereas you have got the whole month to get a truck done
