Klunk,i would go via Belin-Beliet for a change of sceney, you can rejoin the bottom of the rocade south of Bordeaux, before the weight limit, but as the log trucks use the area,i would follow a few of those through the weight limits,i hated the forest road, very boring, and tedious, like you said a magnet for fine money now.
i once had a weekend off near the biggest sand dune in the world at Pyla, parked in the woods, and skied down it,some locals used old fertiliser bags.
I got followed by the Douanes at 22.10,on a saturday night, while i was looking for a place to park up,they were in a land rover with scuba tanks,so they could deflate their tyres to drive on the beaches to locate bags of narcotics that had been thrown over board or washed up,the air tanks would inflate the tyres ready for the road again.
Does anyone know who is doing the run to Morrisons in Gibraltar. When I lived there it use to be Continental Express, part of the Stubbins Group, I believe. I have just phoned them and they say that they still have the contract but don’t employ any local based drivers anymore. However, I have read on this site that Freshlinc now have the contract and when I spoke to them they confirmed that, saying that they make 5 deliveries a day to Morrisons using double crews from the UK. So who really has got the contract? as Morrisons only get 5-6 deliveries a day.
Cheers

I don’t have the faintest idea, nor do I particularly care.
Just a few posts down the page in this forum is a thread titled Gibraltar, have a read of that and see if you can figure it out from there.
Asking the same question in a separate thread, like this, won’t get you a clearer answer anyway. The same posters will give you the same arguments as to why their answer is right and the other answer is wrong.
bit of a harsh reply!!!and if you dont care why did you bother?looks like he only joined a week ago, whys everybody so negative on here■■?

your right mate there seems to be so much ■■■■■■■■ on this site you arsk a simple question and get a sarcarstic answer on some posts
Agreed, bit harsh that Simon. Whats the point of a forum if you cant ask a question? We could all just look back through old posts but then there would be no new ones!
This is after using the SEARCH button on here with the words Gibralter
search.php?keywords=gibralter&terms=all&author=&fid=3&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search
if its there why can it not be used at first,
the search button demonstrated by Brit Pete brings up many old posts about Continental Express, Barbary Apes and the financial crisis in La Linea. Apart from multiple posts from Ex Haulier about CE and Gib in 2008
Is it just me who finds the Truck Net Info Point which is run by Simon and Brit Pete confusing?
I have a bloody good memory and can normally remember an old post or content thereof, but occasionally when I do use the search I draw a blank or get 120 pages to trawl through.
I think in this particular question, it was someone who knew the score when he lived there and now is asking for up to date information!
the contract to deliver to morrisons is still with CE they do have drivers that live down here and they use frio ejido to do some of the work. freshlinc are doing some of the work and according to CE drivers freshlinc are trying to undercut CE as they need to get down to pick up their own produce

A bit harsh yes, I agree.
But, is it so hard look down a page a dozen lines
If this question had been asked in the Professional Drivers Forum, which is almost entirely about UK work, then my answer would have been different. However, it was asked in the Euro Drivers Forum, which clearly has a much lower posting rate. It would be reasonable to think that there could possibly be something useful in here. A thread called Gibraltar was less than half way down the index page which, as it happens, has an answer of sorts to this question.
It doesn’t even need a site search, it’s right here on page one.
IS it to much to ask for someone to make SOME effort first
The only button I use apart from the enter button is new posts, so if a thread hasn’t had a response for a couple of weeks, it slips off the top 3 or 4 pages.
For instance I just did a search for Gibraltar and apart from Brit Petes new post from last night, this is what it brings up.
So what would tell a new poster that he must scroll down one particular page Simon?

come on Simon don´t be silly effort in this day and age ? it is far easier to get someone else to do it for you
I note with interest everything that has been said in regards to the question that I posted and thanks to those who believe Simons response was in my opinion “bloody rude” I had read through the “Gibraltar” forum and which I made reference to, and as there was conflicting information I phoned both companies. What I was hoping for, was that maybe a driver from either CE or Freshlinc, that worked on the contract, might shed a bit of light on what was in theory " A REASONABLE QUESTION". I was looking for up to date information, not something that was a year ago!!! And as both CE and Freshlinc were saying they had the contract who better to ask than the drivers who may be driving the stuff too the store!!!

You didn’t notice that the whole thread is barely a MONTH old?
The last post on it was a WEEK old, when you posted.
The last line in that week old post suggested anyone interested should look up the web site of Stubbins, who apparently run most of the haulage to and from Gib.
It would also be reasonable to assume that anyone who had any interest in haulage Gib’ would have posted on a thread running for a month.

Sorry, my mistake. I must be turning into a grumpy old git already.

I think you will find they are working with continental express who are also loading back for freshlinc. I have been fed this direct from county express and freshlinc drivers. Freshlinc haven’t took the job it just gets them down there to load back there own stuff. Doing until about march time.Let me put all of you right, stubbins own CE and do not work for anyone else. we have our own pack houses in spain around 15 we take the Gib down and reload from Moroc to france, Freshlink is indeed going to Gib to MORRISONS and no not for stubbins. We have lost the job before but it always comes back. Why stubbins is the largest spanish importer of produce. So there you have in from the horses tail LOL
And if you read from that post down on in that forum you will see why I posted the question in the first place…No disrespect to those having posted but there were only a few posts in reference to the contract and are they employed on that contract?
and if you look at Stubbins web site (after searching via search engine) it is as much use as a chocolate fire guard. forgive the pun!!!
Is it me or do you have an issue. What good is either Stubbins or CE’s web site, they are not going to and DO NOT answer my question and as I said before both the TM’s at CE and Freshlinc claim they have the contract.
“A year ago” was a figure of speech, when things are changing day by day then a month might as well be 10 years.

I agree with you NeilSP252.
I was only made aware of the November 2nd posting about Gibraltar with your thread, whether the fault was caused by the spelling of Gibralter or Gibraltar, but along with your chocolate fireguard, the search facility is often like that too.
I mentioned how confusing the sticky posts are in the top tips. What about the disinformation that Brit Pete keeps posting and the fact that some of the moderators of these forums seem to have their own agenda with members old and new!
I may ■■■■ a few people off. I am here for a lot of the time and my interest is in Road Transport, it has paid me well over the years, it still is doing in a small way. But one thing is certain. I will never post anything that I have not checked or am not certain of. I will offer advice, encouragement and ridicule in equal servings if it is warranted.
The reason being, I can, and if I stick to the rules of the forum, I can and will keep posting my own brand of information and humour.
Cheers Wheelnut.
I wouldn’t have asked the question if I hadn’t looked first. Just need a job either in Spain or going back and forth, so I can see the wife more than once every 3 months (YOU WHAT, you want to give up your freedom! I hear everyone say). Have PM’d a few ex-pats out there recently, after having spent 7 months cold calling all the Spanish companies before being forced to come home to the UK and work for an agency to get some experience and until things pick up. The last thing I need is for someone to turn a simple question in to a debate.
did you not get a reply from hombre yet neil?
if not let me know and i’ll pm you his mobile number, there are 2 drivers who used to work on the same job as him that live in the same town as me but they are now doing the same as you on the agencies.
Probably explain why Freshlinc have got 25 new super space cabs sitting in Ford & Slater being prepped!!
Well if your right it will be sad. Say what you like about CE but they pay fair money to the blokes who double man the job. They have lost it before but got it back when the mob who undercut them couldn’t keep the standards up. Am i right in thinking that Freshlinc are all polish etc ?.
