Location : Dragonville, Durham
Approx: 34 - 37 hour
Salary: £7.25 per hour with Drivers CPC
Salary: £6.75 per hour without Drivers CPC
We are seeking a reliable person to drive 7.5 tonne, boxed refrigerated lorries, on multi-drop routes to our shops and wholesale customers. Starting at 4.00am and working approximately 7 hour shifts. Also you must hold a licence that will cover this type of vehicle or have passed your car driving test prior to January 1997.

Simple if you do the maths. Anyone who gets the job without the CPC has got to do 35 hrs of classroom work in a year and a bit which the company’s not just got to pay him for (and the course) but probably find a relief driver for those days too. Estimate the latter alone at 40 hours at an agency rate of, say, £11 p/h it adds up to £440,equivalent to 880 hours at the 50p differential rate, which based on a 40 hour basic week is 22 weeks work, and that don’t include the cost of the training or paying the original driver for attending.
Might come as a surprise to a few of you but employers are not registered charities.

Don’t think the company has to pay for it.
Paying for DCPC is the responsibility of the driver but many companies opt to pay
I think the split in who pays is about 50%
Woot, we’re sorted lads, an extra 50p per hour if we’re “trained” or to put it the cynics way, they’re taking 50p an hour off you to fund your compulsory “training”.
I think thats a terrible pay rate, they do a similar job to me they also have to know all the rules so should get paid for it. But a few class one drivers would work for that.
Makes sense to me. If you have it you technically have a higher qualification if you like. More qualified in any profession = better rate of pay.
Also you’re going to stand a better chance of getting a job with it than without.

Dont you talk ■■■■■ ! wot qualification ? cant buy experience and if you think you can good luck…dcpc = tax on drivers nothing else, an insult on drivers with many yrs experience.

Think you’ve misread my point. I’m not advocating the DCPC, merely pointing out we all need it by the latter half of 2014 and that if you have one when going for a job its going to be a major advantage thus can see the point why this company has two different levels of wage depending if you have it or not.
