can you still go that way, or are there weight restrictions?
Remember it well , the Mont Cenis was another interesting
way across the alps .
Happy days .

Quite possible, but that doesn’t mean they can’t put a 7.5 T limit on it. Just cos it’s closed to larger commercials doesn’t mean it’s closed, just closed to us. A Ministry of Defence road will still be open to any Ministry of Defence vehicle.
It would be nice know if we can still take an artic across that pass
i arnt to sure on that now simon would like to think it isnt a weight limit its a very scenic route thats for sure.
but its nearly 15 years since i was last over the top of that one .maybe someone will shed some light on it.
i’ve done loads of italy over the past few years and always fancied trying one of the old routes.
i know i’ll use a bit more fuel, but surely it’ll work out less than paying for the tunnel, or swiss.
and the scenery will be breathtaking for sure.
but i don’t want to burn 100 litres of diesel, just to be told “turn round and [zb] off you english dog”
try sneaking over there one dark night with a ■■■■ turpin mask on limeyphil you never know seriousley it could save you a bob or two.

That’s no good mate. You can’t see the view when it’s dark
i snook over genevo about 2 months ago the problem is col du lauteret between grenoble and briencon it has a 12m length limit you can miss that by going vallence gap briencon still beatifull but you dont go thru oulx centre now much quicker now on the italian side
You can tell that it’s a French military route, just look for the white flags flying on the buildings
AS Rawlings F89 at Lautaret. If there is a length limit now on the direct route it must be for the dam crossover into the tunnel. Where you were bol**xed if anyone was coming the other way, someone HAD to reverse all the way out and if you had just entered at the dam, there was a right angled entry into the tunnel.
Was towed up through the village of Lautaret one snowy night by a huge snow plough. The sign below (Briancon?) just said “rain”, I should have known better. I had deviated that way because the Frejus was closed. Turned out to be a landslide on the Italian side and spent 3 days at the French post at Genevre, watching the “young” skiers doing their stuff. Good company with John Eaton from Transport Services.
Ah Mont Genevre happy days. Pocket the toll money and crack o same with Mont Cenis
