Monday 13th unlucky?

IF we can believe the local rag reporting he had a little bridge contact before getting stuck trying to turn…

swindonadvertiser.co.uk/new … ine-hours/

If that were the case I make it a clear 1km to have reversed from the bridge to the b&b!

Surely he didn’t actually hit a 12 foot bridge in a 4m Daf, but realised he had to reverse?

Does he work for the company Trucknet is moving to? :astonished:

Cue the foreign driver knockers. :unamused:

Speaking as somebody who uses those type of… essentially totally unsuitable for trucks, type of roads, every week,.I can only sympathise with the lad.

He’s reversed to his left, i.e. goodside and then couldn’t drive out to his right because of the cottage, why wouldn’t he drive out to his left again and keep reversing to find a better spot. He even passed Lime cottage but didn’t use it on his blindside.

Panicked?..
I had a similar thing years ago, where I could have knocked down a centuries old small Belgian chapel,.and in the ■■■■ dark . :unamused:
If I had panicked like him,.I would have.
Took me bloody ages to get turned around,.you just need to keep your head
He wasnt as lucky as I was on that day,.sh happens unfortunately.
As I sayI feel sorry for him.

Good point.

No mention of where he was trying to get to but if he had started on the A 30 south of there then there are no signs there warning of the choice between 9’9", 11’6"and 12’. Neither do the pictures show much evidence of actually having hit the bridge. Sensationalist hack and Plod trying to justify its existence rather than help.

if the police turned out because he hit the bridge as the article says then why didn’t they see him back as they must of known how far he had to reverse

Agreed, there doesn’t appear to be any warning assuming he turned off the A30. But then ironically there’s a 12’ warning on Tilsbury row which means you avoid the 9’9" .

Needs a good satnav, or atlas.
