Moffett forklift truck in Europe

Hi All,

What are the rules for using a Moffett Forklift in Europe Holland Belgium France and Spain ?

I have been told you can’t use them in Spain , ie on the back of your trailer, can anyone help, it would be greatly appreciated …

Thank you.

Not really the definitive answer you are looking for mate but I seem to recall that two or three years ago one of Stobbies got impounded in Northern Spain. He was part of the Mercedes race team returning from testing and was pulled for being overlength. Iirc Stobbies paid a lot of money for legal expertise and the upshot was that under EU rules if something is permissable in the country of registration (UK in this case) then it is permissable anywhere within the EU.

So I guess my advice would be that it should be ok, but I’d definitely check further before jumping on the ferry.

I think that is the definitive case and what the authorities in this country enforce on those visiting from the EU but possibly not the case in EU countries more notorious for shaking down foreign visitors. Probably get it overturned if you’re the size of Stobarts and can take it to some EU super court but not everyone will have the resources for that.

I would contact Moffett and maybe also their agent in the country you’re planning to visit.
