First ever try at modelling and first ever post!!! Does any one remember this old firm?
hello and welcome old 67
very nice model indeed, but unfortunately, i don’t know anything of the firm in question
Nice model, what scale?
I remember seeing them when a lad in Hull
Ron
I remember Ripponden, but as a bus company or is the memory playing tricks again??
I remember Ripponden and district very well as they were based about 2 miles from where i grew up, the model is very realistic indeed, they made all the bodies for their vehicles in house as no one could produce them to there spec, they did parcel work all over the north west, they were bought out by United carriers some years back, the site of there base i now an industrial estate and housing estate. the only part left i think is the garage area,
Thanks for the welcome “shuttlespanker”.the model is of the first lorry i worked on as a drivers mate in1964.
Hi axorman, its a 1.24 scale the chassis is a kit i have had for a while, the body and the rest i scratch built.
Hi lonewolf, you are correct, along with a fleet of about 80 lorries, ripponden had service buses along time ago,and ran about 20 coaches till 1957
Hi greg I worked at “the district” as we called it for 33years . I just wondered if anyone had memories of the company to share.or would be interested in the many tales I could tell.I have some photos I could post, has anyone else got any?
heres a rear view of the model.keep safe john

Hi “Old 67”, what a lovely model. Wasn’t it “Albion Jack” Butterworth’s regular wagon? And do you remember the colours of Ripponden’s two Foden half-deck coaches from the early 1950’s? - Fodenway

Hi Fodenway, the model is of fleet no. 67, reg no.AWR505B from 1964.Our next No.67 was in 1968,cant remember the reg.no.Jacks “old 67” was TWT331L 1972REG. It was the last Albion that Ripponden put on the road,as they stopped production that year. The two Foden coaches were a "metallic silver/grey"colour,unusual as the other coaches were blue and cream like the lorries.Jack is a very good friend and he confirmed the colour when I spoke to him tonight.
I Dont want to hi-jack this thread, its about models afterall,so I may start a thread for "RIPPONDEN & OTHER REGIONAL CARRIERS"and see if there is any interest
REGARDS JOHN
Remember them well hailing from Halifax myself - aka “Dip it in and risk it” nice model by the way
