great work there ian, wheels look really good mate…
little bit more done today, i done some more research into the tank im modelling it on and apparantley it was bought as a food products tank hence the pump being situated at the rear where it would have been housed in a locker, i decided the pump was too high up so moved it lower down between the chassis,
then turned my attention to the mudguards for the pram wheels ive used two old KFS trailer mudguards and wrapped them around the small wheell and holding in place with a elastic band and dunked into hot water for a few seconds. ive then narrowed it and chopped the sides to get a better fit around the wheel. next was knocking up a bracket that attaches the pram guard to the drive guard using plasti card and then painted both matt black.
Hello Ian Man that Volvo looks the buisness it just looks as though its ready to hit the streets. You should be well pleased with that one. Whats next on the production line. Eddie.
Hi Pete the Daf and tanker are coming along great, dont them wee wheels on the midlifts look stupid, there was one o French’s ex Reid’s Dafs went through last week and it had sideskirts and at first glance it looked like a four wh.unit.
Oh aye have you got all the health&safety gear on the tank hope your wearing the HI-VIS when your putting it alltogether. Eddie.
hi eddie,
hows you fella?
yeah them wheels always remind me of bike stablizers!!. no hi viz on in the house mate although im worried if i have to work on the catwalk i will need to wear a harness…
just a little update
the near side is nearly complete now, today ive plumbed the fuel tank in, finished off the pram mudguard and turned my attention to the compressor hose and hydraulics hoses.
ive been using solder wire for the plumbing and susies but the air and hydro hoses are slightly bigger so i bought some of this
once happy with the postioning of the hose it was primered and painted in this
while the hose was drying ive turned my attention to the offside, finished the second tool box and then detailed the compressor
i made it using 2 battery boxes which i think came from the AMT volvo kit
had a play with the hoses and its looking busy! still got another hydro hose to fit and of course make the end connections
Thanks Pete, glad you like the Volvo mate.
Hi Eddie, I hope you are well mate, and thanks for your kind comments. I really fancy having a go at a Commer Maxiload, so any advice you can give mate will be very well received!
cheers
Ian
Hi WirralPete sent you PM !
Regards Jimski
Hello Pete I am feeling great now, a new man at 70 haha. You are makeing a great job of detailing all those bits and pieces its handy when you are working with the motor you are building I remember when I did the EC with the Roll-on-Off gear that I drove for the council at the time bags o photos it was a lot easier and quicker build. I like the wee oil level gauge dead cute cant wait to see it finished. Eddie.
cheers jim and eddie,
jim PM sent, eddie yes it is easier lol, unfourtunatly im on a scannie tomorrow for the next 5 days still pretty much got the chassis sorted now just trying to plumb in the hydraulic and compressor hoses on the nearside
Hi all, i am looking for some thin vinyl tubing (the sort that AMT used to supply with the kits) has anyone an idea of where to try ?
Bill, have you tried… google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j& … loiZLTn2NA
Look for item number SS49, I think thats what you are looking for
Trev.
Smack on Trev, thanks a lot mate.
Foden 46 has asked me to put these on as it’s his first attempt at modelling.
Now that you have retired Bazza how about adding Alan’s Foden and an F88 to the fleet .

Bill mate,I have used 1mm ‘O’ ring material for model air lines and hydraulic hoses. Any good seal supply shop should keep 1mm ‘O’ rings.
got all hydraulic hoses fitted but managed to snap off pram wheel mudguard in process. after faffing around with superglue it looked a mess so ive ended up making a new one which i fitted today.
also tried alclad chrome paints for the wheels and happy sso far with the results although i may have to buy some more after playing around with it first…
nearside now complete save for drive wheels painting and side marker lights fitting
brackets for brush and shovel fitted and test fitting to cab
all parts for offside painted and just need fitting not much plumbing this side thank god!
had problems with this,
painted alclad on the lockers and all was looking good, until i glued a latch and the glue made a mess of the paint, added to that my fingers have rubbed some areas off while i was test fitting the various parts, thank christ im back in work for 5 days. will have another go at them when i get home lol
Very nice Henry
