It’s been around for years like that. Made a lot of money for a Rolls-engined example that needs work doing
Is the Rolls engine version not as desirable then? Is the Gardner a better engine?
I’m not clued up on the engines at all.
Big Al:
This Atki Borderer has a 45 ton D9 Caterpillar on a four in hand trailer, trifle over weight.
regards Big Al
Big Al,the "Kelly"Ripper and Blade would have added at least another 7 or 8 ton on the 45 ton bare D9,when I used to haul these beasts about collected from Caterpillar @ Winsford Cheshire,I remember them weighing about 60 tons!
Take it easy,
David

Ermmm, no & yes, respectively!
The Gardner is particularly good on fuel, which makes private use a slightly less painful experience.
My personal record was Preston to London and back in the day, bobtail with a 1967 Atkinson with a Gardner 6LXB, including a bit of pottering about in London, and it worked out at 18.5 mpg.

cheers for that, you’d think that the British made Rolls engine would be the cream of the crop. interesting that.

No more British than the Gardner! And perhaps Gardner did have rather more of a pedigree in compression-ignition engines than Rolls-Royce?
