Pipe work for the hand brake looks a bit too close to the exhaust for my liking, I am thinking that this may of had an engine (■■■■■■■■ change or at least the manifold changed thus allowing the exhaust stack to be fitted…
Atkinson Borderer 4x2 250 ■■■■■■■ turbo. Venturer 6x4 ■■■■■■■ 270 turbo.
i could be wrong. -
I wonder if anyone on the site has copies of the Atki Boderer spec sheets ? they may shed some light on who’s and what that engine is. Cheers Dennis.
This any good? Robert

A later version of that leaflet shows the only Borderer listed with a turbo engine, which was the 280 Rolls. For turbo ■■■■■■■■ you would be into Venturer territory
As a matter of interest I wonder just how many Atkinson Borderers were built with the RR engine, I know Dobsons of Edinburgh ( Rylands Group) ran some but I never could recall any others, well at least not hauliers, but no doubt there were some big own account fleets that were tempted on price ! Cheers Bewick.

1970/71 i would say from what was on it photo and spec wise, the cab roof changed around late k-reg start of L-reg as you say the Defender came with
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ road/ranger.
A o/d bought one same spec that was on an L-plate. -
