A shot of the Atki 4 wheeler we ran in the mid '70’s parked at The Avairy cafe on the A5 at Hinkley,it is loaded with 10tons of Westmorland Water worn rockery for a Garden centre somewhere in the S.East.The extraction of this stone has been stopped, for enviromental reasons, for a good number of years now apart from that which is removed from the edge of the Limestone quarries prior to blasting (I believe) Cheers Bewick.

Err, yes they did use eight-stud hubs…

You have to make allowances for Bewick, Marky. He can’t count past six- especially when trying to reckon up the number of Mr Gardner’s cylinders when fitted to a Big J!

Correct, I drove a four wheeler with 8 stud wheels DGR 822, with a 4 LK Gardner & a Eaton Two Speed & a 5 speed D/Brown box, Great on fuel but the brakes were crap. I had a few white knuckle rides I may tell you, Regards Larry.

The Atky i drove for Jack Smith.

Very smartly turned out!

In a fleet dominated by ERF this Atkinson Mark II 4x2 tractor unit was an unusual purchase by Scott’s of Oldham.
In fact it was the only Atkinson they bought due to a high demand for ERF lorries in 1969 and ERF being unable to supply a brand new vehicle

A clean and tidy Atkinson 4 wheeler, parked-up at the ■■■■■■■ Steam Gathering.
I have no details , other than the " J.O. Harrison " name above the windscreen(s) .

Possibly either Gardner 240 and/or Marky can supply additional information about this
1965 reg`d. Atkinson.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

240 will doubtless provide a lot more nfo. than I can, but from looking at the picture it looks like a Weightmaster chassis and it looks like it’s on 8-stud hubs too…

New as a 6x2 (trailing axle) weightmaster model, later loosing its back axle…Model WM1866T (E)…FC10737…
