Mixers

Some classic ones, just picked a load of these up from a guy who was told to put them in a skip at Tilcon 20 years ago, thankfully, he decided to take them home and put them in his loft, as they were too good to be thrown away…

Smashing picture,thankfully not lost.great.Mike.

An excellent picture of a fine firm, far and away better than the other construction company with six letters begining with T but then I am POSSIBLY biased! Just wish that I had taken some, I had plenty of chances over 20+ years in their employment.

Pete.

Two taken from the aggregate silo at Smiths Concrete, Cassington;

No, the technician is not doing what it looks like

Only the Foden is a Cassington based truck, the Dafs coming in from Banbury and Blackthorn (Bicester) plants.

that dafs got a small water tank on it ,bet the customers love that when they want to ■■■■ it up

they look like stretter mixer bodys are they as they all seem to have small water tanks on the few that we have at work ■■?

Gordy; Smiths fit those small tanks due to the tare weight. When the first Daf appeared with a small water tank on a 56 plate, several customers wouldn’t have the wagon back as the driver said he needed the water to backwash…now they’re all like it.

we sometimes have that problem so what do the lads do if the customer wants it ■■■■ wet ? as the wettest slump we will carry with a full load is about 7o slump but saying that we have an 8metre truck with a 650 litre water tank made by stetter dont know gross weight mind with full load ,fuel, and water

Gordy; I think Smiths concrete had a pair of 6w 3000 Series Foden mixers that had about 300l tanks and could carry rather high slump loads without exceeding the mgw. There used to be a Hanson 3000 series based at Oxford that was a conventional 6w with a lift axle added. IIRC this had a 7m3 drum plus large water tank.

im just looking into a 6x4 tipper with a lift axle fitted in front of the drive axles. the rear suspension has to be on air to go to 29 tonnes gross. im wanting to use a scania chassis but scania dont know if the computer will let the air system brake the extra axle.

Contact Tarmac: They use some subbies with this setup on Daf CF chassis. I think the subbies are clled Hasletts.

That’s them. Wouldn’t fancy leaving a load on overnight though…

My new Renault Premium Lander

9 mixers waiting to tip at the first 400 metre pour for a windmill ( 1 of 25) on a mountain way above Llantrisant , Wales on 12 04 2012

Can you get 8m3 on that?

When the truck was ordered all the weights were put together and it should have been carrying 8m with a bit to spare.
The Renault chassis is light weight.
I weighed in with 8m(wet load)at 32180kg full of diesel(250l) and 350l water. I carry 7.5m until Tarmac buy me alloy wheels. Alloys were a £2000 extra but were not seen as a requirement at the time. I get paid 8m rates anyway.

A very rare Cemex-owned mixer. Currently based at Kidlington, but has been based in Wales. “A bag of…” according to Kidlington staff.

PJ Davidsons’ plant at Raf Brize Norton. It’s a paddle plant as they’re using several old 8w tippers to deliver the concrete to the new Hercules hanger. C50 is the spec so the batcher told me yesterday (we take the waste away). Hansons supplying the aggregates.
