Just doing my course at the moment and looking to clarify my mirror checks when turning right and left in relation to out swinging and front out swinging of the trailer. Should I be looking to check for outswing before the turn, during the turn. Sounds simple but I’m trying to fathom it out. Thanks
Best advice I can give is to be aware of everything so if that means more mirror checks then so be it but do not lose the forward vision too much is doing that
Gently turning your head each way and noticing everything is key
Assess on approach and check both mirrors as well, to check for the trailer cutting in and also the backboard.
Easy. Look at the basic rules for mirror checks ie before any change of direction or speed and before a signal.
At a junction you will normally have all of these. So from the beginning:
Mirrors signal
Mirrors changing speed
Mirrors changing direction
Mirrors changing speed.
And keep the Mirrors going all the time you’re changing speed or direction.
Hope this helps, Pete S

Thanks to all for that one.
Besides all the official times for checking, you also need to use them to maintain situational awareness. Not sure if that’s part of the test, but you’ll need to do it once you’ve passed. After a while you’ll get the hang of knowing where the little darlings are and what they’re up to. Probably before they do.
