U can use a mini ipad for the truck with a truckers atlas for back up

If you mean to use for sat nav, only the wifi+cellular can be used, wifi only cant.

If its a wifi only iPad, you’d need an iPhone with a data connection and hook the two of them up, which will then allow iPad to use the data connection to load the maps up.

Or, as above, if its a cellular version, stick a sim card in and use the data on that and it’ll be fine.

I have both, pointless using maps on ipad, I use the sat nav on the iPhone.
