Hi Scantheman…One for your Dad ----Bubbleman has put a picture of Milk Board Tanker on his scrapbook memories page 34 i think it was.

[quote="Dave the RenegadeAll the farms used to have milk stands on the end of their lane, also stands in the villages where several farmers would bring their churns for collectiion.[/quote]
They still do… have the stands I mean.

You need to watch out for the buggers hidden by 20 years of hedge growth when you’re backing into farm entrances even today; I’ve lost more than one rear lens to the bloody things! :smiling_imp:

The LAD cabbed Albion Clydesdale, these were very popular at the time with the Milk Board when they were changing from churn collections to tanker. We had 3 of these at the MMB Chadderton Oldham and then went onto the egro cabbed Albions.

Nice pic there John and i hope you are keeping well. I remember the crest on the doors of the MMB lorry’s but no matter how hard i have researched i can’t find a single picture of a ford d series churn lorry!!

Not one that belonged to the Milk Board Allen but simillar. This was one of Unigates motors. The MMB churn wagons always had what they called a top deck fitted on the flatbed this enabled them to carry approx 15 more churns(empty ones that is)
