The old MMB lorries were always a popular sight on the farms.
As a kid i remember going with my Dad when he worked for the MMB in chadderton. We used to go to farms and pick up churns of milk then take them to the dairy.
This would have been in the mid seventies…does anyone have any pics of the wagons? My Dad drove a ford d series and any pics or stories would bring back some great memories!

I worked in the garage at MMB chadderton from 1973 until 1976 when it closed.Still knock about with Roy Jones one off the ex drivers.A bloke called George Parson was yard superviser at the time along with a old driver called Cyril.
They used to collect milk churns from the farms around this area ( Hereford- Mid Wales border ) until the early 70’s, then it changed to bulk collection with tankers, only the big farms carried on with milk. Kem transport used to collect around here from Marlbrook near Leominster, for the Cadbury factory which is based there.
All the farms used to have milk stands on the end of their lane, also stands in the villages where several farmers would bring their churns for collectiion.

Yes he is right with the taylor bros names and i also remembered that Jim & Keith were twins. When you see him ask if he remembers Barry Wildman with his American cars.Do’es he still live over the Oldham area.
Hi John…he does remember you very well and Barry and his american cars and he had a bit of a laugh when i mentioned “topping up churns”.
He no longer lives in Greenfield as we moved to Anglesey in 1986…so if you ever fancy a trip to the island let me know and you can meet up again
All the best…Al
i remember MMB 4 wheeler flats (LAD cabbed Albions IIRC) collecting churns from my grandad’s farm, and later Leyland Terrier type 4 wheeler tankers - that’d be early to mid 70s around Halifax area, probably a different depot I’d imagine?
