As many will know, Michaelwood has been undergoing a serious rebuild of late. This afternoon I called in southbound for a break & I can’t believe the mess they’ve made of the lorry park.
I didn’t count the spaces but there seems to be less now than in the old lorry park, they’re all herringbone & seem too short for artics. Has anyone seen them or had problems in there.
scotty1972:
Waited for about 10 mins just drive through to the garage as the artics were having trouble reversing in.
I know what you mean Scotty. I had my 30 min break there today & the number of drivers having problems was crazy. I’ve noticed lorries parking out on the slip road a few times recently but I didn’t realise the problems the new layout had created in there.
Grayham:
Perhaps they’re turning it into a caravan park now, wouldn’t suprise me
Was in there briefly on sunday ,caravans are in the car park at the moment , most fun – not , Followed signs for caravans,Puts you directly in the car park with nowhere to park ,struggled to get a space or two!! ,even more fun getting out of it without trashing our van or the nice old blokes van next to us
In the truck park there are two lengths of bay,one for artics and one for rigids, but not signed as such.
Difficult at night after you’ve reversed into a slot to find you’re “Hangin’ out the front!”
I dont understand what was wrong with the old layout, theres not enough space between the two rows, the extra manouvering every one seems to do is just causing mayhem when there are a few wagons waiting to get in or drive through for fuel.
I don’t stop there anymore, I’d say it has the biggest stench of (zb)iss of any service area I’ve stopped in (and to beat the M40 wheatley is something). I stop at Seven Springs, Stroud or near wickwar quarry at J14)
