Yes wonderful thing gearstick was that worn you couldn’t tell if it was in gear or not lol,the boss took it out on a changeover with one of the fitters and got stuck half way up a hill stirring the stick around
the 6 speed with splitter wasn’t a brilliant box for full weight work.
We looked after a fleet in the 1990s of 1625s with that box, running at 24-26 tons
no problem, but 1625/2025 and 1628/2028 running at 38 tons, maybe cos of all the
gearchanges, were not really up to it.
The 1628 that I drove for Joints had the 6 speed splitter box it was easy to use . I have drove one with the 8 speed box. It was a Laura Ashley truck. You had to knock it to the left to get the lower range and to the right for the upper range . The splitter box was easier . Tony

Hallo, did you had in England the 25/28 with the 6 speed box. We only had them with the 9 or 16 speed box. But the first one’s had the 1932 18 speed box 16 plus 2 crawlers. But a weak box thereafter came de ZF16S112.
In that time of the 18 speed box they offered the Fuller RTO9513,but nearly never sold because of the dissuade of the dealers but only delivered to customers who otheraways would go elsewhere.
Cheers Eric,

Hi Eric in England we had a 6 speed splitter box ( 12) and a 8 speed range change box the 8 speed.box was the mosy popilar one. I don’t know if there was a Fuller option . Tony
This was my first 2035 with EPS gearbox which I thought was year’s a head
Of its time some didn’t like them .
The worst useless merc I ever had was a 2025 it was a demo I had to put
Up with for 6 month
Got round to making the Tamiya model I said about on earlier pages.
Here is a reminder.
And here is the model.
Tamiya only does a 1838 so I thought I had to do a 2638.
Graphics are next…
Did the V 6 engine in the 1834 have one or two turbos ? I know the V8’s had two. Tony
