Mercedes-benz NG and SK's Trucks

The 1733/2433/1834/2534 was badly hindered by overly high gearing for economy.
certainly the early 1733/2433 had the same rear axle ratio (in standard spec) as the 1748! I guess the 1834 being Euro1 must have had a bearing on performance, not that either was exactly a powerhouse 330/340bhp!

i did have a customer with a lack of power issue in a 1733,turned out he’d been sold
a secondhand OM401LA from an 1831! amazed he could notice the difference! :open_mouth:

One old sk off for export

They used to have a few Mercs doing boxes 2448 with alloy wheels plus other size motors to
Sanmar springs to mind but not 100% sure if it was them.
have a look on P2 on this thread

It says Silver Birch Wakefield on the wind deflector, but as Brian said the colour scheme is exactly the same as Sanmar and they were from Wakefield as well. Maybe Sanmar rebranded or it belonged to a subbie ?

A few mercs lol! Sanmar had 140 wagons when they went bust! 5 scanias and 3 volvos all the rest were mercedes… They closed the door on sanmar on a friday evening then repainted the fairings with Silver Birch (cos the yard at new miller dam was surrounded by them) re opened on sunday with 100 wagons! The 40 that disappeared were all 2448’s that wernt paid for! they raped em good and proper too before the baliffs arrived lmao
