does anyone have any info about mellings and pics if possible.they used to run clapped out tk,s and anything else that crawled out of the scrap yard,mainly on tipper and skip work.i think their depot was on st georges rd? preston.i remember a driver there who said everyone got a £1 and a chicken every xmas.are they still operating or what happened to them. cheers,jack.
IIRC they wrapped up a few year back, my old man worked for them in the 70s.

They became part of Lancashire Waste Services and moved to Red Scar Ind Est Ribbleton Preston about 15 yrs back and the name Mellings went
(I remember that they use to run Bedfords 4 wheelers & 8 Wheeler Maggies)
I know someone who was involved at LWS I will ask him

Can’t say that I remember Mellings much and I certainly have no pictures but these are from the time of the change to Mellings LWS and then just LWS.

used to ride in mellings wagons when i was a kid drove my first truck on clifton marsh it was a bedford and i was about 12 yrs old, good memories , i can remember austins, traders, a brand new commer flat on ici work dodge lad cabs etc,etc, wold like to see more pics
