Hi John, they certainly had a place in the Oldham area in the mid 60’s as I was an apprentice grease monkey in Middleton and we used to repair and service two Bedford T.K.'s that they had back then.

Regards Steve.

Obertellis are still in business, they del to our place about twice a month.

were they anything to do with “teddy maybank” they had a fleet of small 6 stud wheel tks with scammel coupling trailors I always saw them in central london in the 80s and 90s they used to do a lot of office buildings in central london, I think teddy maybank was a footballer with millwall in the 70s not sure if this is the same bloke. fred

We used to load bales of waste paper there in the mid 80’s for Granolers in Spain, nice quick load through the side of the tilt, the yard could be a bit ‘chocka’ though!!

I am not sure Fred, there was a company called Maybanks who moved waste paper running around London in the 70’s with the same type of vehicles in the same livery and I always thought that there was a connection and that London would of been their head office. I have a feeling that it was in the early seventies when they changed their colours from blue to white with an orange or brown roof and they opened a depot at the old R.A.F. Heywood site which I think eventually became part of the Pilsworth Industrial Estate.

HI boys
Steve, It was Pilsworth that we used to load at for Ireland. I remember it as a new place so mayby it haden’t been opened long then. The fork trucks running around with bale grabs you had to keep an out for as they were mad :smiling_imp: The only down side was trying to sheet them with one piece plastic sheets that weighed a ton, and if it wasen’t big enough you would leave a papier trail all the way to Liverpool docks

Regards Keith

BIFFA ended up operating the place at Pilsworth but its been unused for some years. I thought Crowther’s place was still in use with Tarmac.A lad I knew left Maybanks and went carrying for Tarmac as an O/D out of Little Lever,I still see his wagons locally pulling brick trailers. Obertelli was also loading out of that Traffic Cone place on Manchester Road.
