Maxxed out...

I’m one of those cab happy fools that doesn’t object to being paid by the mile, even though I have a lovely house and a really comfy bed and my wife who shares that bed is a full on ■■■■, I don’t mind sleeping in the truck all week either. I don’t do to escape or anything, I just do it because it’s the way I earn my living, sure the above things that I miss are downsides, but I choose to look at things in a glass half full way and even better, if my glass is only half full, it means I’ve already drunk half of it and I can top it up again

I’m currently up in Rhode Island having a reset (which I get paid for) as I’ve used up all my hours, to do that I left the yard Wednesday evening and delivered in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on saturday morning, then made my way down to Climax, Georgia, which is just north of the Florida line above Tallahasee, I loaded there Sunday and took that up to Toronto for Tuesday morning, then reload in Mississauga for here in Rhode Island. My little mileage thing on the dash says I’ve covered 4263miles in that time, so I’ve grossed about $1800 for that. I’m loading Boston tomorrow and taking that back to the yard, that’s another 1900miles, so will add another $800 to the wages for the trip. I’ll be back Saturday night if all goes well, so that’s an 11day trip and I’ll have earned roughly $250 a day. Of course I’d like more money, who wouldn’t, but I know there’s a lot out there who earn a lot less and work a lot harder for it, so I’ll suffer it

I’ve had no hanging around waiting to tip or load, or waiting for the next job, my days have been spent driving, so far I haven’t done a full 11hr driving day, I’ve had 12hrs off most nights and only had to set an alarm once the whole trip, that was for the delivery in Toronto and that was at 7am local time, so even then it wasn’t a really early start (for normal people  ) All things considered, I reckon it’s not a bad job really, of course if you only want to do a 10hr day and be home in time for Blue Peter, then it’s not the job for you, but I don’t, so I’m happy

Just goes to show, money can be made on the East coast

flat to the mat:

So … once again you drive right by without buying the ■■■■■■’ drinks you tight git.
Where are you in RI ? is it the scabby truck stop with plastic knives and forks (even with a steak) or the Pilot ? Or even a nice town centre ?
Rich Browne (Longwayround) must be flying by you ! he’s been doing NYC to Middleboro MA all week and right through Providence

I saw on fb that you were in Bordentown Pat, so it would need to be a long bar to buy you a beer

I’ll be running across the Pike tomorrow evening if you’re up that way

Nah ! stuck in Yonkers still, a Ben & Jerry load got cancelled at the last minute so I will probably be loading trailers friday morning.

thats a nice sounding run there drive plenty of $$$ in the bank

I was only in Bordentown for an hour, back in NYC when I posted that and then up to Wlbraham MA. I noticed Mark checked in a Lee plaza thursday night so friday morning I followed in his wheel ruts and checked in there also… Mark, you forgot to leave funds for my coffee !

A number of reasons why there’s been no updates, firstly I’ve been doing journo stuff that pays me, the blog is done for free, so I have to prioritise and secondly apart from the music tour, the trip I’ve just done was the first that had something interesting to write about, I’ve mostly been doing little 3 day trips to the Mid West, nice earners for me, but nothing to write about

I will be getting back to the blog as soon as possible, glad it’s missed as I do enjoy doing it, but I have my eye on a ■■■■ little number with a sting in its tail, so the dollar bill is my driving force right now

I could write a blog … 'went ot Bordentown, went to Bordentown, went to Bordentown etc etc etc :unamused:
