Hi

What is the maximum working hours for nite shifts?

I heard 10hrs. But I see many working above that. My mate work for one of big retail company and they gave him letter to sign up that he agrees to work more than 10.

The RTD which since its start has not been policed by any authority states that a max of 10 working hours (driving + other work) can be done if the driver works in any period between midnight and 4 am unless the driver is part of an opt out by work force agreement

The RTD refers to working time not shift time

Without an opt-out agreement in place 10 hours working time in the 24 hour period is the legal maximum.

With an opt-out agreement in place it can be the same as days, depends on the wording of the opt-out agreement.

I haven’t heard of any new laws coming into effect, but an opt-out agreement lasts for a maximum of five years, then has to be renewed.
