I have a full time job which does not involve any driving what so ever, but it is shift work.
and then on my days off I’ve started doing some driving for a agency.
Do I have to make a manual entry on every time I put my digi card in to show my other job?
do I need to just right it all in a Book or get a official log book? if so where do I get one?
Is what i’m doing Legal? some places say yes make the entries but I might not drive again for 2 weeks? which means that doing the entries could take a hour or more!
hoping for some clarity on this. as I have been told a multitude of things, like just note it all down in a little book, too show hours worked, or just note your hours of rest. or don’t bother, just don’t mention your other job. i’m worried I may get a heavy fine if stopped.
My shifts work sort of like this.
Mon 0800- 1800 FT job 10hrs
Tue 0800- 1800 FT job 10hrs
wed 0800- 1800 FT job 10hrs

Legally an official record must be made for each day in a week where you came under EU regs and the easiest way is to use one analogue card for each day with name date start and finish time on it - after 29 days those cards can be binned
No EU regs driving in any fixed week = no other records needed for that week
I see no legal EU regs issues in your shift pattern so far but if you keep doing 6 on 2 off then eventually you will come to a fixed week where there will not be a weekly rest which can be used for it
from that I also take it that I do not have to input all my hours into the tacho then when i re insert my card.
I was just looking at the driver hour guard, and wondered if that may help me.
The weeks where I may fall short on the weekly rest I will only do 1 day for the agency.
hoping i’ve got this right now.
Official records can be individual analogue cards - inputting into a digi or using digi printouts for manual entries - a combination of all 3 is fine so no need to spend loads of time trying to manually input into a digi
Taking 3 days off in a row every so often where part of those covers a sunday midnight usually sorts out any issues
3 days off as above can be used as a regular and reduced in one go
One more thing - the non driving job is under the normal WTD and the driving job is under the RTD - the two do not get added together for RTD and the normal WTD can be opted out of in full = no worries there
