 Take more than a Twin-splitter to wedge those apart! Do you remember those specialised forklift attachments for loading reels of paper…? Robert

Took Pearl down, to much for you old boys!

I got some photos coming from Eddie creeds nephew , my friends dad was les worked at Oxford with Eddie and Charlie Creed , Eddie is still alive and so is Bob Bennett , I also think Fred Holiday is still about , Les son Terry has been telling mew all about MAT and I told him about this thread on TRUCKNET .

Thank you Cartran for some really great photos. I can’t just place the bloke in the DAF with the black moustache, but he seems familiar. A good picture of Mick Potter (RIP) with a Lunch Box, also a good picture of the Group, the picture is too small or too blurred on my iPad, but that’s Manny at the front. I’ve been trying to place where it is, maybe Carisio (Palidini). Also some good photos of the Wrecker, one in France, and the rest in the Yard at Hull. JAKEY. When you next see Eddie or Bob, in fact anyone at the Oxford Depot, Eddie and Charlie Creed, Trevor Tuckey, Bob Bowden , and the others, my memory is not as good as it was, please give them my regards.

The driver with a mustache is Dave lister from Manchester.he retired a few months ago.i speak to his son sometimes.

i used to go out in the wagon quite often with Eddie and Bob. do you remember Harry Carter, a good mate of Eddies. He left MAT and went on Myers. Had many a trip out with Fred Holiday in his AEC when on BRS Oxford. He used to service my dads car(Bob Waugh)

Les Smith Jakey ?

I can’t remember Les, although I probably did know him at the time if he was driving, like Charlie Creed, he only used to do occasional driving, he was actually the Crane Driver for the Depot. Do you remember a bloke called Trevor Tuckey ? He left Oxford and went on his own, I think he had a few Lorries in the end.

Hi Cartran and Archie paice, thank you .

I knew Harry carter , he worked with Eddie on JSP OF witney ,they had a small fleet of fl10 Volvos with upright stacks provided by BRS Oxford depot on contract hire , Eddies fl was immaculate but Harrys was not , Eddie did the east Anglia run and Harry was around the lancs area .

They were always a crack at tea times and was a joy to work with , Fred Holiday was a day man and did not like overnights , BRS oxford ,he worked alongside Bob Bennett on the Rover contract running from Oxford depot at Littlemore down to the rover plant .

My lad now works for HTC DAF at KIDLINGTON and Les Smith son is Terry and he mentioned MAT ,he has the photos and I will pick them up this week.

Attached is Fred Holidays Buffalo he used before going on a Roadtrain , he was not too pleased as the Roadtrain was a sleeper and he was not keen on overnights .

MAT at oxford depot photos , these photos were of Les Smiths trucks , lent to me by Terry Smith (Les Smith son ) , other photos of les motors on the oxford thread .

Hi cartran,
I remember the name John Tack, but can’t for the life of me place him, that’ll nag me now till I do. The youngest Driver I remember on MAT was Steve Blakey, from Hull, a stocky built lad with blond hair. He was just 21, whether MAT put him through his test or not I don’t remember. I was one of two Sub Contracter based in Hull at that time. This was just after Derek Heron (Birdman) took over. I Subbed for them from 1973 till 1977/78.
