I just think this is going to be another rate quashing for the subbies and what was a resnoble job in a low paying side of the transport industry anyway
The employed drivers may be better off tho
Won’t be closing Millbrook and be all new motors for the roadways boys arriving in September.

i would have thought they would move the Millbrook vehicles in to Nursling, they own marchwood, but, rent Millbrook from Freightliner
makes sense to move the Millbrook depot to the yard that they have just bought
This is all from what I’ve heard off other drivers.
Millbrook & Marchwood moving to Nursling, Millbrook going to freightliner & turners possibly going to Matchwood but apparently they’ve been looking at the old SOS site in Totton.
All the blue and whites have been sold and moved away from BIFT and older volvos moved up from Nursling to BIFT to replace. I dropped my 58 plate Volvo up there and brought a blue and white scania down to Nursling ([zb] me that was a learning experience with a 30t box on). The Volvo’s as BIFT are apparently staying until the end of September at BIFT. The blue and whites at Nursling will not be used but moved to Portsmouth for export. Drivers at Nursling have been encouraged to take holiday as less trucks available.
I’m in somebody else’s motor next week (complete with frilly curtains) and was told on the phone by the TM that it would only be a week or two so I can only assume they’ll be bringing in the new units ASAP.
As for the vehicles they are bringing in I’ve heard we’re getting an entire MAN fleet, an entire Scania fleet and a Scania/Volvo fleet split 50/50 so who knows what to believe We do however have DAF, Merc, Scania & Volvo dealers right on our doorstep…

Most of what I’ve written up there is all from other drivers so it could all turn out to be rubbish. I know the sale of scanias and reposition of volvos to be reliable though.
Not heard anything about Leeds I’m afraid.
there is only one blue and white scania left at BIFT, and that is down at the workshop
they have all been replaced by Volvo’s brought up from Nursling

That’ll be the one I was going to collect, only it broke down about half an hour away from arriving
well been off all week back to it in the morning wonder what if any developments have ensued
spanky its none of mine but id imagine the reason you stopped pulling for mt was rates as from what i heard the rates are ■■■■ and i cant imagine they have improved
wasn’t only the rates

interesting well here is hoping after everything has settled things improve for everyone the subbies earn a crust and the lads on the books earn too
Maritime are selling their current Leeds yard to arla, and are moving into roadways.

Shame, the Leeds yard is quite nice, I worked there when they got it and built it up. Also trying to get out of the Roadways / Freightliner exit onto that roundabout at certain times of the day is a joke.
so the first week of us all driving for the same guy is over and if im honest its been mental the office in manchester looked like someone walked in lobbed a small bomb in walked out and said good luck with that lol
you could see the stress was taking its toll on the faces of the office boys and girls ( too be expected ) i only saw any of them tuesday so god knows what monday was like
however by friday things had settled down both sides seem to be getting on still things to sort out like our yard needs organising properly as it was chaos trying to park up
also leeds have kept the yard and moved all the boxes out and are moved all the motors in like what we have done
all in all things are looking good dispite 6 lads handing the notice 2 mates of mine

I think it only got worse as week progressed, all but 1 of the planners from nursling gone, the one that remained was transferred to Marchwood at the start of the week. Given we don’t have the PDAs we now need to call in every time we arrive/depart, my planner, the one who was kept from nursling is almost impossible to get hold of as 70% of the time it just has a busy tone, 23 attempts to get through was my record this week. He only got more & more stressed as the week went on as he barely had time to think.
Was in an RCL FH this week, night out at Cherwell Valley on Tuesday, Cambridge on Wednesday, Northampton on Thursday and clocked 10h 4m driving getting home last night. I’ve been run absolutely ragged, playing catchup with my planner and his idea that I’m in a rocket ship. I arrived at Tilbury for a lift off & lift on at 1 O’ Clock on Thursday and as I rung it he said “Right I’ve got you a 3 O’ Clock Northampton”. Anybody of sound mind knows that ain’t gonna happen and I told him that at the time, as a result of my planning every single job I’ve been given I’ve arrived late for… Also because of the planning I’ve had to get the breaks in wherever I could at customers/yards etc and as a result I was physically sick mid last night as I just haven’t had any opportunities to eat. I figured out why I was feeling so ill when it was 100% water (sorry, TMI). I did however receive a call while running in last night that I’ve been put on the Hapag contract based out of Marchwood and have a permanent 61 plate topline scania. (Am I a proper trucker now? ) So with any luck I will be able to eat & as afaik it’s in the company interests to keep me alive, they’d have to spend for truck recovery otherwise…

When I started, they’d only just got the Leeds yard, and it was really nice and a decent place to do a night out, then they put boxes in there and were lifting at stupid hours, so I refused to park in there and parked elsewhere, sometimes I’d drop my trailer in there and park on the road because it was quieter.
It’ll be decent again now if the boxes have all gone RCL’s yard.
RCL and Freightliner though are a pain in the harris to get out onto the roundabout, especially in rush hour with a loaded box…
djc if your on a contract you will be laughing
im confused though why you struggle to eat as i too have been ran ragged but managed to eat drink etc eg id loaded carlisle tue morning by the time i got back to mcr i was starving so pulled into the village for my dinner ■■■■ em if im hungry im eating

Well, not saying there wasn’t enough places but I was playing catch up and made to feel like it was my fault it was all running late. I just sacrificed eating for the box getting there, not the brightest idea I’ve had believe me. I left Northampton yard yesterday to go to Pentalvers Cannock, put the card in at 5, went to get notes printed & did the walk round and then set off at about 5.20. I arrived at spot on 7 in Cannock where I thought I made reasonable time and I got “You’ve ONLY just arrived? Bloody hell…”. Not saying anything bad about the company as I put it partially down to stress, still doesn’t do my job security wonders if it looks like the only reason they’re running late is because of me.
What’s contract work like? The fella I spoke to on the phone said it was 95% Hapag work but I’d be out of Marchwood, think I’ll very rarely see pentalvers now and see a whole lot more of eldapoint, that’s the only thing I can think of.

I agree.
You were already late for the job, so stop and get some scran.
You’re hungry, stop and get some scran.
You need a ■■■■ (that isn’t just liquid), stop and have a ■■■■.
Seriously, they’re planners, they do what they can with the info they’ve got, if you need a break, tell them you’ll have to stop for a break on the way there, or just stop, but don’t do without and make yourself ill.
HGV drivers don’t get set breaks like a factory with the 10 minute break after 2hrs, 1/2 hr break after 2 more hours, and 10 mins after another 2hrs - this doesn’t mean you can’t have them, if they don’t like it, they can drive the ■■■■■■’ thing themselves.

yep now i belive in cracking on and hate being late however on boxes the best laid plans can go ■■■■ ie vbs pin numbers docks / railheads rammed the jobs are planned to tight
dont let em put it on you you do your best and as long as your not dragging your feet and taking the ■■■■ nothing they can say
