Not all of them surely? There’s some pretty old vehicles on the fleet, 54’s I believe.

Some staff at leeds seemed a bit miffed by it all today…I don’t know what the situation will be here

As far as I know, they’re all subbies now who’ve bought old RCL trucks cheap.

I think I had the last 54 plate when I was there, about 6 or 7 yrs ago.

We don’t know for sure yet. It hasn’t been stated whether they will definitely run us in Maritime livery or whether they will keep Roadways Signage and colours as there is some value in running us under the Roadways banner due to customer preferences.
If we switch to Maritime livery it is likely a lot of the fleet will need to be changed first as we do have a lot of trucks too old for Maritime. The blue and whites would not get a new livery that’s for sure.
I for one will be glad to be rid of the previous owners (Bunch of venture capitalists that stripped a bit too much of the old company, especially when it came to maintenance) and yes certain management will hopefully need some cardboard boxes and a cheery wave as they drive out the gate.

From what I understand, the vast majority of drivers will be safe, as long as they have a reasonably clean record, and over the next 4 weeks we will find out a lot more

I’d guess they got them cheap as they were widely reported as struggling not long ago, think they were on the up recently though.

According to Com motor, ‘Latest financial results for both companies, for the year ended December 2012, show Maritime posting tunrover of £130.7m and a pre-tax profit of £3.87m, with RCL reporting turnover of £46.2m and a pre-tax profit of £570,000.’

According to the FAQ sheet I received they’re still conducting a full review of the fleet, ie figuring our what to keep & what to bin.

Just signed my contract, looks like improvements across the board, more pay, more holiday etc

well our gaffer has been over in rw yard at manchester all week apparently going through the fleet of units and trailers personally for me its all about the train but its going to cost maritime in upgrading kit etc and i id imagine new uniform of some sort
as far as i can see its the start of the end for trampers at the mo at maritime mcr if you get 3 nights out your doing well overtime seems to be thin on the ground too excluding the odd boat catcher i can see within 12 months nights out will be all but gone however i stand to be corrected

Jeesus £3.8m profit on £130m turnover that’s shocking even for road haulage

Clever accounting can make even the biggest profit margin shrink overnight.

As with all Accountants…Liars can figure and figures can lie.

Have a look at the Maritime website all info a Driver should need is on there, vacancies and job description

spoke to a rw driver today based in freightliner Birmingham said they were being moved back to bift that’s( tamworth) by the end of the month with new unit’s arriving with them probably skoda’s :unamused: as keltruck is just round the corner

Well vacancies for planners at BIFT have just appeared on the maritime site, quite a bit of the office is unused up there as it was all planned remotely from Southampton. Don’t know of the validity of the new scanias. I’d say it’s far too early to tell, I don’t think they know themselves yet & even if they did, I don’t think they’d disclose it.

I know that they were in all our cabs on Saturday checking the state and cleanliness of vehicles and taking pictures :open_mouth:, don’t know about all the other depots though.

Maritime are moving into nursling depot in Southampton, and closing their own yards.

Wouldn’t have thought that Nursling was big enough for all the motors if they closed Marchwood and Millbrook

All the bay renters have been told to shift it. Turners, wincanton, great bear etc etc. All the spaces around the perimeter were a used by them, we only used the ones in the centre. I reckon they’d fit… just about.

how big is the yard i was thinking the other day we are going to struggle fitting the extra units in some nights in tilbry you cant get in its that rammed

all the external companies that currently park in BIFT have been given 28 days notice to leave, they will be moving all the Hams Hall fleet in to BIFT when it is finished, and all the office staff

Nothing happens until the 7th of September, here’s hoping for a smooth transition. A lot of the lads down this way aren’t too happy about it though, I can understand but I’m going in with an open mind.

I’m told that a few in the office @ BIFT were ash’n faced after the meeting

from what i have heard, none of the office staff at BIFT are going

there is a large fleet of 54 and 55 plate scanias at BIFT, they always got the hand me downs from the other depots

i used to pull for Maritime myself, i have now been on for RCL for 5 years, i had a phonecall from the subby manager at Maritime last week, basically welcoming me back, not even a hint of telling me to leave

although, there are reasons why i left Maritime previously, so, i may end up leaving again :unamused:
