maps

need to get a new map for Europe, what do you fine people recommend

Philips Multi-scale of Europe, for a general whole of Europe map.

A decent scale for maps to give you the detail we need, is 150,000 to 200,000.
Michelin for France, the Atlas France, Routiers et Touristique (has weight limits and bridge heights).
Falk for Germany.
TCI set of 3 maps for Italy, North Centro and Sud… You can get these individually, depending on which regions you need.
Shell Atlas for Benelux.

That should do you for starters.

Some others’ll probably be along soon with more offerings

Excellent info Simon, +1

Where would I get the French atlas with the bridge heights? Is there any others with bridge heights ie: Austria, (Vienna) in particular.

In general I use Auto route on my laptop, best street map on the planet, when I have the option ill have a look at the area I’m tipping on google maps, but neither of these give bridge heights which is the most dangerous part of our journey…

You can get a Michelin Atlas just about anywhere in Europe where trucks gather.
The one I mentioned is the one to look for.

I’ve never had a map of Austria.

Thanks,
I just googled the French one I just have to look harder next time I’m in France, I forgot to mention I use the Phillips Europe map in general, and the falk map for Swiss, Austria, and Germany.

If your over 4 m for Austria you should have a permit. If you haven’t you will probably be ok up to around 4.20 m anything over then your mental.
