Hi guys, not posted for a while. i was doing frozen food multidrop when i first passed, anyway i left that after 4 months costing too much getting there (100m round trip)! so went on to do timber supplies delivery in an 7.5t for local company just to get me by, but am now out of work. that wagon used old paper tacho which i was using for past few months . Ive signed up with an agency who have put me forward for a job and the company they have uptodate wagons. question is, will i need to make a manual entry when i put my card in to say ive not done any work since dec? just trying to refresh my brain. My card was on rest from my first job when i left.

If you use a type 1 digital tachograph you won’t need to do a manual entry for the time since you last used your driver card, if you use a type 2 digital tachograph you should record the time since you last used your driver card as ?.
The ? symbol is for time that cannot be accounted for, you cannot use the bed symbol for the time since you last used your card because you’ve been using a vehicle with an analogue tachograph and therefore have not been on rest the whole time.
This is precisely the sort of situation the ? symbol is used for.
