Hello folks, Can someone clarify for me please that when making a manual entry on an analogue tacho chart, are you required to sign/validate the information provided. The 3rd example shown on page 32 of the Rules on Driver’s Hours & Tachographs does show a signature, but I can’t find anything written to say it is necessary and when making a manual entry from a digital tacho unit you are required to sign it. Hi. No requirement to sign the manual entry on analogue. But if it’s an explanation that you’re writing on the back to account for over-running etc then I always go for initials. You DO need to sign the manual entry on digital.

To add to what Peter has said, some companies ask for manual entries on charts to be signed or initialled but that’s a company policy rather than a legal requirement.
