I have just read this on the BBC news website, Very sad indeed.

Text below is copied from the website

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/sussex/7928401.stm

A 54-year-old West Sussex pedestrian died when he was hit by a loose lorry wheel on the A27.

Robert Kerry was waiting near the roadside at the White Swan Hotel in Arundel on 6 March when the wheel came off an orange three axle tanker.

His father-in-law, John Cordingly, suffered a heart attack and died after hearing the news.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the lorry travelling on the A27 from Chichester towards Arundel.

They also want to speak to anyone who saw or moved a lorry wheel on the A27 after the crash.

i feel sorry for the wife, she has lost her husband and father on the same day. :frowning:

driver will canned for that one.

I’ve just read more on this website

telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ … -tyre.html

It goes on to say that the wheel was smoking so could be a wheel bearing failure rather than loose wheel nuts.

I know it will make no difference to the families involved but it could rule out driver negligence as i’m sure that will come up regarding saftey checks and wheel nuts etc…

Quote:
Police Sergeant Stuart Goodwin, who is overseeing the investigation, said: “The important thing is that we would like anyone who saw this quite distinctive orange tanker prior to the incident to contact us.”

Do they not have driver? The only orange tankers i can think of is that Belgium mob…Sitra?

Condolences to the family and friends

It is sad especially as he has five kids makes it even more terrible for his family.

According to the local rag here the driver stopped immediatly and went back to assist until the ambulance rocked up.
