well pleased with it, a very relaxing drive, decent fuel con and a big enough cab to live in for a week. seems the box is either a love it or hate it type of job, i wouldn’t say i love it but i’d have one over a syncro. power wise theres plenty for top weight but you’ve got to work the engine a bit, knocking it down before you hit the bottom of a hill etc, get the revs up and it’ll pull like a train, leave it to late and it’s 40mph to the top.
cabs an odd layout, small bunk for such a big cab and plenty of cuby holes none of which, apart from the two big uns under the bunk are big enough to put anything other than nick nacks in, saying that it’s an mp1 and the mp2’s are quite different, apparently.
putting this particular wagon aside what i will say is it’s a very different ball game having a truck on finance, the last four years of running old wagons all bought cash has spoilt me a bit in the fact that if i got fed up doing a job or just fancied a few days off, there was no pressure financially, now i don’t feel like i can do a short week so everything seems to have got more critical especially the rates at which i’m working for, not sure wether thats a good thing or not? in theory this wagon will earn me more money but do i want to be out five nights a week to earn it?

It’s like trading places
MAN are very god trucks, in my opinion the older models like Man generation 3 and 4 (that’s before the TG) are excellent. And if you chose a Man you can find much useful stuff here (link removed)
