Tramper:
 what, you’ve put the film into Boots and are waiting for them to develop it?
You’re motors moved from the stone age (ERF - Merc) so nows the time to change your camera! Can you still get thoses little flash cubes?
had a very simple choice yesterday afternoon, go back up to the yard to take pictures of my wagon or go to the pub?
was it dark when you took the pics

all I can see is

not sure what happened there
Nice! Looks pretty straight, you know my veiws om Mercedes, but I really hope you have a better time than me. I do have some parts in stock that you may be interested in, I’ll make a list and let you know.
Is that an ex McBurney truck
Looks very similar to his colours and he did have a couple of Actro’s for awhile.
Looks like an ex Deben truck to me, and its got an AY plate so it comes from the East Coast somewhere.
Or perhaps Banana Transport (of Grimsby I think) who have Mercs in that colour.
Paul
Yep, thats a smart looking truck Paul
. Looks like ex Deben to me to, a mate of mine used to drive one for them, only one fuel tank and the single bunk/over head locker spec cab, supplied by Orwell Trucks - Ipswich.
theres an identical one pulling containers out of belfast now, think deben is right.
It is Deben.
I looked at same vehicle before Paul purchased and in the side locker was a ring binder which side Deben on the spine.

paul b:
an average of 9.2 mpg is still very impressive
Isn’t that still less than you were getting from your old ERF though? I’m sure I recall you saying you were getting the right side of 10mpg from it.
Paul
true enough mate, nothing will ever match an m11 with twin splitter but would you want to do five nights out a week in one?
mercs probably only on par with any other modern truck but a big improvement on the old volvo fuel wise doing the same job.
in my humble opinion ERF put a gun to their own heads when they stopped making the ec’s, they’d stil be on par with anything now with a modern cab and a bit more grunt!

x deben it is, hence the odd shade of yellow!
while we’re on it, does anyone now what the drop down bar does in the passenger footwell??
seems to serve very little purpose.

I have only ever done 2 nights out in my life, so I can’t comment on that. My point was more that you would think we would be doing better than that these days with all the fancy new technology on the trucks, it’s amusing that a relatively simple old engine can still beat the modern stuff on economy.
Paul
perhaps something to do with ever changing emissions regs?
is the bar not just a footrest
We currantly run about 15 Mp2s and one MP1, merc L/H cabs,
and have never had any serrious problems (altho a clutch went on my unit 2 weeks old!/replaced under merc warranty)
Dealer is murder for not doing silly jobs(lights bulbs etc)
BUT on the whole the trucks gett good fuel returns and as i sayed reliability has been good ,
so i can only wish you many trouble free miles of truckin!
porkifer:
well done mate for the brave decision , ive just picked up my 05 plate volvo fh12 auto , like you ive resisted the full r&m but gone for the volvo mbi and servicing which i reckon got for a decent price which includes belts every year and mots , talk soon and ill moan about the crap rates and cheap netto mars bars im getting , but im still my own boss and doing my own thing
So my stories of woe never put you off then?
