Looking for drivers operating out of Grimsby or the NE Lincs area, or Brighton in East Sussex who are willing to take a student in the passenger seat and just have a conversation about the industry, the people, the politics. Will be making either a book or a film of life on the road for a university project. Would appreciate any help!
Cheers !
Edit: I am a male student, in final year at university, this is my final major research project. I’m looking to have conversations and take a few pictures. Happy to help with any work if needed to return the favour !
Saw your thread in the other section and was just wondering have you tried contacting any haulage firms directly and asking this? The larger ones will have HR departments that you could get in touch with. As they would need to make sure it’s OK with the insurance and health and safety implications anyway, an employed driver isn’t going to be able to take you along in the truck with them without the company’s permission. Good luck though.
I personally don’t think big companies would allow a passenger in their units. You may have more luck with owner drivers rather than big companies.Particularly those who are not doing containers.

Fair points, personally I reckon on the other hand some large firms might actually have more staff with the time to listen to him & look at whether it’s something they potentially want to be involved with. Whereas owner drivers & small firms possibly are too busy to enter into a dialogue about it and might just say No straight away.
