Hi.

Mackintosh had a depot across the road from me at Penkridge and ran about 30 TK bedfords (no pictures sorry).
They got about 20 new bedfords delivered one Saturday and had them lined up on the loading deck presumably for a publicity shot, come Monday morning and time to load them up not one of them had a gearbox left in them!
Thank you Trev I remember that depot from my days with Rowntree Mack, I wish I had had a camera In my bag Again Thanks Trev.
Thanks John for the pictures, I am wondering If there are any pictures out there of the days BRS operated the long distance work for Mackintosh, they operated AEC then ERF, plus ADL operated the retail del fleet
Again Thanks John

I,m sure the top photo was taken at there depot on the Grange Ind Est in Warrington, are depot was for Baxter Healthcare back onto it. We came in one morning to find lots of Kit-kats Quality St etc etc in our yard the local kids got into there yard and punched holes in the roofs of them Bedfords backed onto the bays god there was stuff everywhere. that would be in the 80s
You are quite right Boatchaser,Brian has got the caption under the photo on his flickr site stating taken at Warrington depot 1983/84

Yep i remember that photo well always line up like that at the end of the day, kids did everything they could to rob them , i,m sure it got to the point they stop loading them at night and did it early morning . The things we use to find in are yard. Just jumping off the thread next to us and also backing onto there yard was (and still there i,m sure ) was the building on the corner with the funny shaped roof that was a Money holding building for Barclays. They would come to us some times when they got a Contianer of coins from the mint in S.Wales to help unloaded it because the Cont was to high to get in the building, always got a nice new tenner for helping
Thanks
John and Brian When I was with NMU and Row/Mac I was At the Following Depots London/Paddock Wood/ Norwich my first fleet number was 725 I think my last one was 1375
Thanks.
John
NMU a few more here for you from Brians (Penvik) flickr site.
Hi John
Thank you again its good to see the NMU contract fleet again Its a shame there are no pictures around of the old fleet both Rowntree (NMU) and the Mackintosh (BRS and ADL) years ago when both companies were Independent brands the fleets where a real mix of equipment from Austin Morris Ford Bedford Commer different styles as well, plus you might like to know that Pascal sweets of Croydon transport was contracted by NMU, All In All NMU provided transport for a few major companies.
John again thank you.
