Machine guns and tanks in Spain

Does anybody remember the check points. The traffic ahead slowing down.Road coned off.
.At both sides of the road would be a tank or armoured personel carrier.About 50 Police.Police dogs and a chain to spike the tyres for the runner. Some Pokice wore baraclavas. Some check points would be in a remote back road. Most of this was due to the ETA attacks. They blew up some tourist resorts.
On approaching the control you would have a few men pointing machine guns at you.Vehicles were also searched.

Care in the community is not working."!!!

why do you use the past tense? they still regularly use them in roadblocks.

I encountered one of them in Barcelona, I was following my taxi to a drop right in the center and I was a bit worried at first, not the kind of thing I’d seen before.

They stopped my taxi and waved me through, I told the bloke waving me through that I was following the cab and he kept waving me on, so I repeated that I was following the cab in my best Spanglish and it turned out that was the day I learned to say ■■■■ off before I kick your head in you English pig in Spanish

Here they shoot first and ask questions later

I have been through an FBI checkpoint though at the Agricultural Inspection in California on I-15, no tanks, but lots of guns :open_mouth:
