I’ve had enough now, you’ll not find me running on the hard shoulder despite the matrix signs telling me otherwise. In January there was a HATO with his 4x4 sticking out from an ERA into a live lane (h/s) & no warning from above. I’ve seen a breakdown where there is no h/s & again no warning. Yet again today there was a transit on the h/s before j27 but it was signed as a live lane. I accept that there will be some lag time between the time of breakdown and getting the signs changed but it’s happening too frequently and I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before someone is killed.
Rant over for now.
A couple of weeks back a car had broke down on the uphill just before hartshead (w) and a few cars were slamming on and swerving last min , as I got there 2 lads were pushing it up the hill to try n get it off the lane into the era and 1 of them had a hi vis in his hands , was busy aswell lucky they didn’t get hit

pegs are already out on the eastbound m62 between 18 and birch noticed them yesterday wont be long now before the M60/62 resembles a car park all day
Worse than normal motorway IMO , if they got used how they are meant to be they would be better but they don’t lol
stranded 4x4 just before the entry to hartshead east bound this arvo…followed by a couple of those red dutch tractor carrying motors, parked in the sos area(front one sticking out into lane one)
no warning of either incident
I too foresee problems with these managed motorways, a lot of the problem being there has been nothing in the media to educate your average driver, so they learn in a “monkey see, monkey do” kind of way.
An example being Tuesday as I was heading south M6 near Walsall, traffic running freely (I know, hard to believe) consequently no matrix signs lit up. Now this tells me that we have your normal three lane running at nsl and the h/s is emergency use only, but oh no, the number of cars that undertook me travelling down the h/s was staggering.
Perhaps when it’s normal running it’s going to need a large red X to dissuade these people?
On the other hand.
It’s loads better on the M62 west bound in the morning rush.
Then you get to the M60 and it all unravels unfortunately.

Thr amount of drivers (not just idiots in cars either) who move to the H/S as soon as they see the countdown markers (or earlier) for their junction is unreal.
Perhaps they think the hard shoulder ends at the point that the “HARD SHOULDER ENDS” sign comes into view. Then again, half these clowns look no further ahead than the end of their nose, so it can’t be that.
