M62- average speed cameras

is all of the m62 going to have average speed cameras set at 50 mph from junc 21 all the way to junc 29■■? pain in arse

Huddersfield Daily Examiner

SPEED cameras on the M62 have finally been turned on.

The average speed cameras between junction 25 at Brighouse and junction 28 at Tingley, near Leeds, were put up in November last year as part of the Highways Agency’s multi-million pound road works scheme.

But the cameras, which calculate motorists’ average speed for the whole of the nine-mile stretch of road works, remained dormant for more than two months after bad weather delayed the start of the project.

But last week work to replace the motorway’s metal central reservation with a concrete one began and the cameras’ “Not in Use” signs were finally removed.

An average speed limit of 50mph is now in force 24-hours-a-day to protect road workers.

Highways Agency project manager Sujad Hussain said: “ The new barriers are stronger and more robust, reducing the risk of vehicles involved in accidents crossing from one side of the motorway to the other and improving the safety of road users and road workers.

“The barriers are also unlikely to require repairs after vehicle impact.

“Drivers are advised to approach these road works with care and allow extra time for their journeys.”

All works are expected to be completed in May.
Might add a whole 2 minutes to your journey…

what about 21 -24,its not the time im botherd about as i work nights an my wagons set at 52 anyway, just thought someone might know whats going…not all of us have to get from a-b as fast as possible

be nice to have a chance of doin 50mph everytime iv been on that stretch in the last few weeks its been 30 at best :smiling_imp:

I travel through it everyday, pain in the arse, especially when cars sit in the middle lane doing 40 with half a mile of clear road in front of them :unamused: :unamused:.
