Drivers let off speeding fines because of a row between highways bosses
You would think the individuals concerned would be held accountable to some governing body.
If this was the private sector their feet would not touch for such incompetence.

If the HA didn’t bother to get a TRO then the limit is unenforceable, simples. The police have no choice but to drop it like it’s hot
Update…
M60 average speed cameras ‘won’t be enforced until New Year’ after legal row

Happy days lol
It’s irresponsible of the Manchester Evening News to report this story before the speed limit can be legally be enforced, they should have waited until the revised traffic regulation order is in place, by alerting people to the fact that the speed limit will not be enforced through the roadworks they’re putting the road workers at more risk.
Happy days for some maybe, but not necessarily for the road workers who will have to work alongside speeding motorists, some of whom will no doubt show no consideration for the workers whatsoever.

An irresponsible tabloid newspaper? Next thing you’ll be telling us that journalists can’t be trusted!

What road workers? There haven’t been any there since the cones and speed restriction appeared.
Left hand down!:

I’m not familiar with those roadworks, but if they’re converting the motorway section to a managed motorway there must be road workers there now or intended to be there at some time in the near future.

I haven’t seen any from Rochdale all the way to the M62/M60 split since the cones have been put down and cameras have been put up.

Really !!!
I would say its the Highways Agency who are irresponsible!
They implemented the speed restrictions two months before work even began and could not get that right.
It now turns out that it can not be enforced until the New Year!

Yes really.
The fact that the Highways agency screwed up doesn’t mean it was wise or responsible to report that the speed cameras are for all intent and purpose none functional.
This will probably lead to a few idiots speeding through the road works at 70mph just to show off, knowing that they won’t get a ticket for it.
By the way the link in your post doesn’t work.

No works going ahead on the Motorway as yet, they are in the early stages of making the compounds at M62 J19 and M60 J12, Once the compounds and site offices are set up then there should a start on the motorway itself, the green walls inbetween Birch and Simister are nowt to do with this job, that is some environment job.
